Those are great shots, Donna! What are you feeding the Orioles in the last photo, jelly?

I think I read that Orioles like grape jelly.

Donna: You are such an awesome photographer - do you work professionally at all? Weddings or anything like that? I know if you lived here I would pay you to take pictures of my dogs. Lord knows I can't even take ONE good picture. The birds and just beautiful.

Thanks Terri and Tina! Terri, it is grape jelly in the dish. Orioles love jelly, it keeps them and the fledges around until they head south later in summer. The Orioles are loving the birdbaths too! Tina, I am so not a professional photographer and don't have a big expensive camera either. I just love taking pictures and get lots of practice! LOL!

Here are two more photos one from yesterday and one from this morning...

Thanks Jackie (and Debbie!)...my camera is an older (2007) Canon Powershot S3IS superzoom with a 1.7X Sony teleconverter added on to get a bit more zoom. Alot of my bird photos are taken through my kitchen window. I like to use the continuous picture mode cause then I sometimes capture a moment I may have missed otherwise. I take lots and lots of pictures this way but normally end up with some good ones. I would love to get the newest version of this camera I think it is the SX40 by Canon. I tend to prefer Canon over other cameras. Would love a Canon DSLR but they are much heavier and need bigger lenses plus cost alot more...they are more versatile though. I have however seen some great photos out of the SX40.

Donna, you are proof that it's NOT the camera that makes the shot . . . it's the photographer! I look forward to your pictures . . . thank you so much for sharing them!

GREAT shots - We LOVE birds and other shots.

We have - Nikon D80
And the lens we have is nikon 70-300 mm.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/70-300-vr.htm

We love to shoot the birds when we go out our hikes.

Do you know if we can ad something like the 1.7X Sony teleconverter to ours?

This is as good as we can get with our lens.
The bird in flight is pretty good - and the cat sitting still.
But, the hummingbird (outside our front window) is not great with our lens.

Your shots are wonderful!

Kelly...Thank you so much!! I just love taking photos. Given the chance I will take many many photos of the same thing, changing things like shutter speed or my focus point and the compostion of the shot just to see later (on the computer) what looks better. You learn alot that way. I really think a DSLR would produce much better results however since I like bird photography and you would need a big lens for great bird photography with a DSLR I just stick to my superzooms that I don't need a tripod for. There are lots of really great bird photographers out there...I don't compare at all to them but I still just keep shooting as I think birds are beautiful as are lots of other things....

Thanks everyone!! I love sharing my shots as much as I love taking them. My daughter thinks I am obsessed of course. She doesn't realize her obsessions are worse. LOL!!

Leigh4t...love your photos. A couple times a year I go to a park in town to photograph the gulls. I think they are beautiful when they are flying. Wow, you have one hairy cat...how often do you have to brush it? Looks like that hair would matt very easily...guess not to different from a cocker huh? LOL!!
