I'm going to South Africa for two weeks this summer to work on a lion reserve and I really think a new camera is needed! Normally I use the family Nikon which is brilliant but far too valuable for me to take out to South Africa and my little camera is fine sometimes but too be honest I want something special. But I'm only a student, I don't have a lot of money to spend as I'm going to be paying for this myself as I don't want to be asking for yet another thing from my parents as I head off to uni. Does anyone have any suggestions? It needs a fast shutter speed for the safari with good quality photos - but it needs to be small enough to carry around discreetly and not too expensive!

The first one is $167 - but I'm not sure what you wanted to spend.

IDK what your budget is but this is a fairly decent camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5) in terms of size, IQ, build quality, handling.

i also dont know how fast do you need it to be as this one will shoot captures up to five standard or three fine images at 2.5fps

now the price is not that comfy as you want something cheap, but this one sells in amazon $369.00.

i do not own this camera but i was looking it to it as im taking a trip back home and my 2 dslrs( 550d and 5dmkII) are a bit too bulky. But for the price i paid for my 2 dslrs plus Canon "L" lenses, im all set for cameras for a long time so these 2 will have to do.
