WAY TO GO ANNIE! KEEP UP THE GOOD NUMBERS AND KEEP ON TRUCKIN!

This is great news and we are so happy to hear the number 38 AGAIN! Actually on the low end of the PCV average of 37 to 55.

So, we are still sending prayers that Annie will continue to flourish as time goes by. But, there is always a but, with this nasty disease. I a have to agree with Vickie that we are not out of the woods, but this is the result that I have been hoping for right from the beginning.

Love and hugs,

Dawn :paw

Sally, you have a great idea about the collars in PINK. I wonder if we could talk Erica to call a pink collar named "Think Pink for IMHA"!

Annie's "official" report came in. Her blood count is 34.6. This is not too bad. Her bone marrow is also still cranking out more red cells. Hopefully this means that she's making and replacing faster than they are being destroyed. All the vets are pleased and encouraged.

Bob and I actually were actually able to eat a meal and get some sleep last night. We are still on edge though and poor Annie's lip is going to hang like her ears since we keep pulling at it. She is putting up with us though. I think she knows she scared the bejeebers out of us.

Prayers still requested and gratefully accepted!

More prayers coming over! Sounds like she had a fun day at the office anyway, I'm glad they didn't say anything about her being there! If they dared complain, I think half the forum would turn up on the doorstep! :wv

Tuesday - May 1st -

Annie's blood count is 42! Serum is clear and urine shows NO blood broken down. The vet says that they truly feel she has "turned the corner". :Clap

That is awesome! Normal range! Now when they start to reduce her meds, it is very important to go very slowly, I think it is by 25% intervals. Reducing too quickly may result in a relapse, which we do not want. Sometimes vets are eager to reduce too quickly, by 50% at a time. You may want to research proper med reduction.

I am very very happy with this report!

Thanks for your input here. My primary vet already said that they usually start to decrease by 10% intervals. Their feeling is the slower, the better. Apparently a lot of individuals try and get them cut down faster due to cost and/or convenience and do ask the vets to decrease faster. Personally I don't think the chance is worth it.

At this point we actually give Annie her meds over a 30 to 40 minute time period twice a day. We start with pepcid, wait 10 or 15 minutes and do a bit of food with the antibiotics. Then we wait a bit and do her breakfast withthe "heavy-hitter" drugs. That way she keeps putting a little food in her belly with each batch of meds. We do the same thing at night except we wait an extra span of time for her last med which she gets with "dessert".
