Just wondering how Poppy is doing? Haven't seen any updates for a bit. Hope all is well and she is doing better. Just letting you know I am thinking of her.

I'm sure Kim will come on and post - but because I know you're all sending positive thoughts and prayers, I can add a bit of an update.

Poppy had her staples removed Friday. She's doing great - tail is waggin' and she has even moved her back legs.

Kim, what's the latest?

Kim posted a picture of Poppy on Facebook this morning in her crate... from what I understand she is wanting to get up and walk so is being crated! That's the best reason I can think of for crate rest!!

Sorry I haven't posted an update for ages! Poppy has been keeping me busy! She can move her tail, occasionally stand with some help with balance and even take a few wobbly steps. We are doing physical therapy exercises several times a day. She is unfortunately still incontinent. Her happy little personality is very much intact and she's wanting to go exploring. We're putting a seat belt on her now in her buggy, so she doesn't leap frog out of it. She's an angel with being crated when I'm sleeping, but not so good with being crated during the day.

Tomorrow I take Poppy for an appointment with the veterinary opthalmologist that 3 years ago performed her distichiasis surgery to remove eyelashes that were growing across her eyeballs. She developed dry eye from the surgery and the vets won't renew her medication without her being seen at least once a year. Luckily the neurologist said she's ok to travel. We will just wheel her in to the office in her own Poppy mobile buggy.

Progress is so slow that it's sometimes disheartening, but I know she's on the right track. Thanks all so much for your continuing thoughts and prayers. I do update Facebook daily since I can do it from my phone. Getting a chance to be able to post a picture on the forum from my computer is a much more challenging action.

I'm happy to hear Poppy is making some progress...sad to hear a vet would make you take her in rather than give her meds.

Poppy is so incredibly cute!!!! She also has one of the best doggy moms a dog could have!!!

I can't believe that either! Won't her regular vet write a rx for her???

What a sweetie !!! Glad to hear things are going well. They just wrap you around their little nubby tails don't they. Simon hasn't had health problems - I know I will be worse than I probably was when my kid's were babie's if he ever does.

They legally can't write a prescription unless they have seen the pet within the last year. Somehow with studying for the vet tech boards, I must have missed the postcard reminding me to make an appt by March 25. They made the appt really easy and quick on her and brought her right in. My mom went with me to stabilize her in the car driving. She got an A+ on her eye exam and doesn't need to return for another year.

Thanks for the update, Kim. Glad to hear that there is some progress. This must be very difficult for both of you, just wanted you to know you have people here thinking about you and Poppy.

Kim, I am just reading now about Poppy. What happened that precipitated her back problems? She had surgery, was it because steroids and crate rest were ineffective? I posted about Joslyn in the last hour, she is at the vets' I am waiting for his call to see how she is this am. May be driving today to vet school at WSU if...???? what?? I don't know.
