Fighting IMHA is one step forward, two steps back. Mia's internist at the Vet Specialty Hospital said I should consider her PCV numbers over the course of several tests and not get upset if it drops a percent or 2 from one test to another. Mia's numbers would sometimes drop 2 percent but then go up 5 percent at the next visit.

Cyclosporine suppresses the immune system so watch for signs of a runny nose or cough because she will be more susceptible to bordatella which can lead to pneumonia. When we got the okay to begin giving Mia some exercise, we limited walks to sidewalk only and then I would wipe her feet with a damp washcloth or a baby wipe when we got home. (Boy, she hated that! :paw

)

I too understand the finding anything they will eat mode. I wish I was closer so I could cook her some yummies! For all their tough talk about what to feed our "kids" I have seen vets feed french fries, potato chips and hamburgers too in an attempt to get one started eating again.

Every time I read about another of our forum cockers getting this my heart just sinks. Having lost my Romeo to a relapse of IMHA I know how it feels to watch those blood counts so closely and for any sign of worsening symptoms. I will be praying for her and believing for the best outcome. If only they could find out where this horrible disease comes from. :cry
