I took Charlie to our favorite park today and we arrived there just in time to witness a Great Dane reunion. It was pretty amazing to see all those giant dogs (so gentle) walk together and play in the water. What impressed me the most was how quiet they all were, not one bark, nothing! Charlie tried to play with them but I think running through all those long legs was intimidating to him, he stayed next to me :gig .

Here are a few pictures and a cute one of Charlie to make it fit the Cockers, Cockers and More Cockers section.

First of all, that picture of Charlie could NOT be cuter! He is a doll! I love Great Danes - they're so regal. To see so many in one place would definitely be cool.

Great pictures! :th-up Great Danes! :love

Charlie looks so cute! :hp Albeit, a little perplexed too! :gig

My Boss owned two Great Danes and he would bring them to work on occasions. The office was very small and I shared it with my Boss. They were so gentle and could walk around that very small space without knocking anything off of the desks or over on the floor. :evil

I would think that those rocks would be hard on the paws? :roll

WOW! That's a whole lot of DOG in one place! ;-)

My little guy Oliver came with me to my parents' house in December and met their Great Dane Lucy for the first time. I'm not convinced he knew what kind of animal she was! There were unfortunately not many "puppy kindergarten" classes near my home in France when Oliver was a tiny pup, and following the advice of those warning against the dangers of parvo and other disease, I kept Oliver inside for several weeks after he came home. While I would of course recommend you exercise caution and good judgement, I would never repeat what I did. Even once I let him outside finally, I wouldn't let him interact with neighborhood dogs much. Of course, this means that he was incredibly hesitant to embrace big ol' Lucy! He must have barked for 40 minutes straight! Fortunately, he was only about 6 months old and still able to learn that other dogs weren't a threat :-)

Now Oliver and Lucy are the best of friends! We'll have to let Charlie know the gentle giants are fun to play with ;-)

Tina, I always try to get good shots of Charlie when he's freshly groomed. But I recently realized that all my favorite photos of Charlie are taken when he's in between grooming. I must love scruffy dogs :love

What fun! Charlie I bet those big dogs would have loved playing with you... they probably would have thought you were a Great Dane puppy... just with more hair! :gig

Great pics, specially the one of Charlie of course! Lottie loves big hairy dogs, she hasn't met a Dane yet, but she loves the Beardies and Bernese at ringcraft, to the extent that I have to watch her while practising triangles because she makes a sudden dive towards them!

Charlie I can vouch from experience that Great Dane's make wonderful playmates for cockers! My uncle used to breed Great Danes and at the time he had a buff cocker named Annie. She used to love to play with them all, but they all knew she was the boss. :wnk
