It's Mabel's first birthday today! :love

It is hard to believe that our journey started only one year ago. I planned to get a dog for years, and got serious about it about 2 years ago. After much research and consideration, I settled on the first breed of dog that I had in my life - from my birth to 6 years old, we had Tess, a sweet black American Cocker Spaniel in my family. As soon as I found out I was moving to Bogota, Colombia, I immediately found a breeder through the Colombian Kennel Club and she was expecting a litter of parti pups in the next month. It was a bit sooner after my move than I expected to get a dog, but I jumped at the chance. Little did I know that American Cocker Spaniels would be considered to be a rare, exotic breed here, unknown to the general population, or that my little black and white Cocker would garner so much attention that she would become a major conversation starter for me whenever we are out.

Here are some pictures of Mabel's first year. Thank you for coming into my life my sweet girl, my puddin', my pie.

And so we close out the first year of an extremely pampered pooch!
