By your post it sounds like you plan on grooming him yourself, in the future? If so, I would invest in a pair of grooming clippers, like the Andis 2 speed, or maybe an Oyster brand. However if you don't plan on grooming him, I would just purchase a cheep grooming kit fron Petsmart, Petco, Walmart, any of those should have it, look for one that comes with a #10 blade that way you are less likely to nick a squirmy pooch. I would not use scissors, one major squirm and here is way to big a chance of bad things happening. I shave my own as well in this manner and in case you choose to do so here's how I do it. I have Indy who is an adult very submissive trusts me completely, and when he knows I want him to do something, he will do it, this may not work with a six month old pup, but perhaps after he is a little older, for now have someone hold him down. My method is I sit on the floor with my legs straight in front of me, slightly apart, just enough to support the dog and have Indy lay belly up, with his head resting on my feet, I then shave his, uh, belly, by going with the grain, i.e. up. I hope this helps!
