Lucy, I tried letting Charlie's back grow natural last year and I used a Coat King type tool and a Furminator to clean it up and it still didn't look right. I will try to grow it again but for now, our groomer has been shaving it. I like the lenght she's shaving it now but I have no idea which blade she's using.

And I bought these clippers today for $100! They were used twice. The woman was selling them because she's used to Oster clippers and couldn't get used to Andis. I think she paid $195 new a couple of months ago. I think I got a good deal.

I love Aussi's back natural but you have to be patient with that inbetween faze when its growing out and you get crazy fly aways. Charlie I asume would look wonderful like that as well judging from the way his fur lays in the pics i've seen. Poor Aussi is in desperate need of a good bath n groom he's pretty fluffy at the moment :tg

I just looked online for additional blades and there is quite a difference between 4FC (9.5mm), 5FC (6.3mm) and 7FC (3.2mm). So confusing :goof ! I should ask our groomer what she uses on Charlie's back. I like how she does it a lot.

IMO I think of the 3 the 7 (if you plan to shave his back) and the 4 will be what you need. I do have a 5, but rarely, almost never, use it. 6 is also a good one if you don't want to go as short as a 7 on the back. If you have a 10, 7, and a 4, IMO, you are in business. :gig

If you are not clipping the back then you definitley want the 20 mars coat king
