Rocky is 4 months old and has discovered his bark. He barks at practically everything now. Its as though a light switch has been flipped. He went from hardly ever barking to barking lots. Last night he was in my room as I was working at my desk and he barked at me for an hour. I fed him, gave him treats adn took him potty (2x). After an 90 minutes and the 2nd trip out and playing with his bone, he finally fell asleep.

What gives? This is bizzare...and loud.

Try giving the pups something to distract them and entertain them at the same time - like a safe chew toy - maybe a Kong stuffed with frozen peanut butter and kibble, or a bully stick. Always supervise when they are eating/playing with things like this and take the bullies away when they get too small, but it keeps them occupied and quiet for a good while.

You can also try some of the toys that require them to think - like the balls that you fill with treats and they have to roll them around to get the treats out.

Other than throwing the ball or walking them to tire them out, you just have to train them to amuse themselves with something besides you.

Our puppy is about the same age and is doing the same thing. They are so silly. I just ignore her or distract her with toys or treats. Hopefully this noisy state will be over soon, lol.

Kiara just don't care what I do, I have tried everything to get her to stop even ignored her but after a hour of her barking at me even more from ignoring her and tring the food and toys and them not working, the barking whent on for almost 2 hours and I just don't know what to do, we go through this every day and it seems like each day it gets longer and longer, I take her for walks then we also run 2 miles in the afternoon.... I love her so much but if I don't get the barking to stop im going to get kicked out of my home

We figured out that Rocky barks incessantly for only a handful of reasons...1) he has to poo, 2) he's hungry or wants a snack (he's 5 months so he's in an eating spurt), 3) he wants to go outside for a walk, no matter the temperature or weather conditions. We also determined his had 2 types of bark. A regular doggie bark for poo or food, and a high pitched screechy bark for "take me outside and walk me until i'm bored". My hubby has gotten into the habit of taking him for a nice long walk in the evening when he gets home. Rocky goes out with my hubby and son for a liesurely stroll (about 30-45 minutes) and they cover about 1 to 1-1/2 miles in their walk to the parks and stuff so my son can play.
