Anyone tried it to break the nasty habit of eating poo? How much do you use?

I have used pineapple for this and it worked very well for me. I put just 2-3 small pieces on each dog's food for a couple weeks and that seemed to break the habit.

I have also used the crushed, they aren't picky. I use about a teaspoon full. You can also sprinkle Adolf's meat tenderizer on their food but the generics do not work. If nothing else works, you can purchase Forbid from the vet which is a powder spinkled on their food. Works but is a bit expensive when other things work just as well.

If you use the Adolfs, make sure you get the kind without onion powder-onions are very toxic and can cause Heinz Anemia, which is like IMHA except caused by onions.

I used Forbid when Casey was a puppy, it did make the poo smell worse(if that is possible), but didn't deter him. Only thing that worked for him was immediate cleanup, which I still do.

I have also heard of putting hot sauce on the poop so they won't eat it, but alot of work when it is easier to just clean it up.

My biggest problem is when I am gone all day if anyone goes and I am not there. Tucker is my muncher, the other two just look at him and think he is gross.

Chewable Papaya tablets are good for this too, it contains the papain enzyme that is in "raw" pineapple and papaya! "Cooked or Canned" pineapple and papaya does NOT contain the active enzymes. Papain and Bromelain is the active ingredient in most "Meat Tenderizer" it breaks down protein fibers making meat more tender and easier to digest. You will find papaya in most dog food. My boys get three chewable GNC Papaya tablets daily and are happy campers, no doggie farts, no bad breath, no poopie snacks, and droppings break down to dust in a matter of days with very little odor. Raw pineapple is also great for sore throats, it soothes with an enzyme called bromelain. Bromelain and papain enzymes are highly beneficial for the prevention of a vast group of medical disorders including stomach and colon cancers. Chewable Papaya also tastes GREAT! The dogs and I take them every day! Bromelain and Papain enzymes work much the same and are members of the same family of enzymes.
