Hi! :hi
The main thing with any dog food for cockers is to check the ingredients and make sure the food is corn and wheat free. Cockers are prone to allergies and can develop skin problems (chronic dermatitis) and ear infections. In my work with rescues, I have been amazed at how going to grain free can improve a Cocker's health and appearance.

I also had the experience with my own cocker that dogfoods with duck tended to make her gassy. Also, it's best not to constantly change "flavors" since that can also make your dog gassy or give him intestinal upset.

Just say No to SciDiet. There are so many better diets out there for less money and with less junk in them. There is no one right way to feed your dog but some foods are like eating a salad, some are like eating a frozen pizza. Find the food that works for your dog and that is as whole and healthy as possible.

I would never say "No" to a Science Diet food that was specifically formulated for a dog with severe health issues. My boy Leroy was on the K/D variety of that brand for his kidney failure issues. At that point in his life, it was more about providing support for his kidneys than the quality of the food. He was 11 when he died from related issues. :sad

I probably wouldn't use this brand for a perfectly healthy dog or puppy, but there are reasons that some of us make that choice. :dk

Is this a food recommended by your vet?
