How awful, my prayers for everyone. However, medical technology is so advanced, she will come thru this with all the love and support.

Was thinking of your Granddaughter tonight and so glad I checked your thread and saw the photo you posted ... what a beauty little Athena is! Still praying for her and your family.

God has blessed your family with a beautiful baby girl.

The latest is a lengthy explanation which I will shorten to "simple".
Athena has no small intestine & must meet a whole list of criteria before
she can even go on a transplant list, very complicated & could take up to
2 years just to get there. She can live that long on the IV fluids which she
will be getting at home in a week or 2. Then if suitable & compatable organs
become available & a transplant performed & accepted she could live for up
to 5-7 years. (The IV fluids are hard on the liver, thus "organ S.") Her health
will always be in jeopardy & nothing we can do will help. All Mommy & Daddy
can do is take her home & LOVE her for as long as they have her. There is no
dilemma, that's the bottom line as we know it right now. We are just sick!
But will continue to Pray big for a real GOD MADE MIRACLE! Thank you so
much friends for being here, anyone I have to talk to here is in the same state

Thanks again for your generous sympathy & encouragement. I know that you know
how difficult it is to deal with all the different personalities, & beliefs among families.
I have 4 daughters, 1 son, with spouses, 13 grandkids & I think 8 greats. We have never
been faced with anything this serious in all of our kids.
Now a good thing. My youngest dau Mary has 3 sons & today her youngest graduated
from high school with more "honors" than I ever heard of before...I love you all, Jan

Janet, I am so sorry to hear about Athena. With medical advancements time might be on her side-who knows what advancements 4 years down the road might bring? You must be so proud of your grandson!! It's nice to have some good news to brighten your day!!

I am so sorry to hear the diagnosis, but don't give up, and love her every day. Athena is such a pretty name.

Athena is just beautiful. Don't give up hope, ever. Doctors have been wrong before, and I know her mommy and daddy will be doing everything they can for her, including asking lots of questions and doing their research. Sending prayers for you and your extended family.

She is just beautiful! Sending many prayers to you and all your family and praying for a miracle.

I talked to my Grdaughter today, she said Athena is coming home tomorrow to be loved.
A nurse will visit often to keep tabs on her & teach Mommy & Daddy all they will need to know &
make sure she doesn't get infection in the places where tubes go in or out of her tiny body.
It's not going to be easy for them, please continue to pray. Thank you w/luv Jan

My prayers for you and your family for strentgh, hope, and a lot of support from family and friends. Athena is beautiful. I hope and pray for a soon transplant. Medicine advancements are daily. I encouraged you to yes look at the prognosis but that is not a definitive, miracles can happen. Keep update with the specialists and the new research in the area as well as clinical trials.
