On January 2nd my father fell asleep in death. He had many health issues,
and had not been well for several years. No matter the circumstances of any death, the loss is still great. Prayers needed to get thru this, as Iam at a loss and overwhelmed with feelings.

Stephanie, I'm so sorry. You're right. No matter what the circumstances of a death, the loss is still great. And now, several weeks after your loss, after others have gone back to their lives, your reality sets in...

My heart goes out to you. I remember what it was like when my dad died...

Stephanie I am so sorry for your loss. The death of a parent is one of the most traumatic things that a person can suffer. I know the feeling. Years after my mother died I read this poem that I know it will have helped me if I had it then.
"When I Must Leave You"

When I must leave you for
a little while
Please do not grieve and shed
wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
through the years
But start out bravely with
a galant smile;
And for my sake and in my
name live on and do all things
the same, Feed not your loneliness
on empty days,
But fill each waking hour

A beautiful poem which I know will help. I know it would have helped me and it actually does now when I am reading it.

I am sorry for your loss. When I lost my Dad only about 4 years ago someone said to me "well he had been sick a while". I remember saying it didn't matter, when I was with him I was still 5 years old and he was the most important man in my life. Please accept my condolences.

Stephanie, I am so sorry to hear about your father's passing. It is a very difficult thing to come to grips with. My mom passed away 9 months before my dad after 65 years of marriage. I have always felt he needed to be with my mom as I knew how much he missed her. May happy memories of times together help ease the pain of loss. :hp

Stephanie, I am so very sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is very difficult and I will never forget the day I lost my mom.

In time the fond memories will replace more and more of the pain and you will find peace. In the mean time, I will hold you and your famiy in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. Some days are good some days are bad, crying for no reason (oh ya, I do have a reason). So many memories keep rushing in, its hard to sort it all out. I didn't know if this was the place to talk about such a serious matter, but somehow it
has helped to get it out. So many great people here, Thanks again!

Do your puppy's know when something is wrong? My Sambuca seems to be
extra sticky velcro dog lately, thats a good thing, I need her now!

Stephanie, yes, this is the right place for this. It's one of the hardest times of your life, and many of us have been there. We understand and care. And yes, you certainly do have a reason to cry 'for no reason' on some days!

Sometimes it helps with the memories to write them down. That way you'll have them and can sort through them later... It can all feel so overwhelming, with the memories popping up, while your emotions are still so raw. It takes time to heal, but someday your memories will make you smile and feel warm inside. Mine do, now, but at the time, I thought I'd never stop crying...

Sounds like Sambuca knows, alright. Many of us have sensitive pups, like that... Hold her close and let her catch your tears...

I'm so sorry for your loss! It's always hard to lose someone you know, but espeically hard to lose a parent. So many times I wish I could ask my Mom something .. then I remember she is gone. I can't mend your hurting heart... but I can pray that God fills it with His comfort and peace. :hp

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Unfortunately, I lost my Daddy in October. He died in his sleep in the early evening, the day before my birthday.
He also had been seriously ill for several years. I am glad he is at peace and
not struggling and in pain any longer. But, to be blunt, it sucks beyond belief!

I have no good advice as I struggle with the loss daily. It does get a little easier day by day, to keep going, so try to hang in there the best you are able.

I hope the pain of your loss is eased some in knowing that the members here on the forum will have you
