I've been wondering if there is a sprayer out there that connects to the bathtub faucet. I'm still using the cup method of bathing, fill the cup up, pour it on the dog.

It would be nice if they made some sort of attachment for the tub faucet. Anyone know of anything?

Thanks!

One thing to keep in mind with those is that if your water pressure is very high that thing will fly off of the faucet mid-bath. Could startle you or the dog. Just something to think about. I prefer the style that attaches to the shower, if you have a shower.

If you don't have a shower head over the tub, get one like Karen posted. And... a roll of duck tape!

Kaci:

I have this:

http://www.amazon.com/RapidBath-Deluxe- ... 848&sr=8-1

I really like it. It comes with one shampoo cartridge, but you can also just push a button and it sprays plain water. So if you don't want to use the shampoo cartridges in the future (though they last through several washings) you can just use it as a sprayer. It's sturdy, too. You just fit your current shower head thingee with a screw-on adapter and then screw in the hose attachment. Once finished bathing, you can remove the hose and flip the switch back to your regular shower.

I also bought this (don't know where you're bathing now, so thought I'd add it):

http://www.lowes.com/pd_129546-332-1030 ... ity%2Btub#

but it's not that exact one because I only paid between $25-$30 for it at Lowe's. There's nothing to hook up. It fits inside your bathtub and allows you to stand up and bathe the dogs. When finished, Just remove the legs (that's mine, anyway) and store the whole deal in your basement or garage until the next time. It really saves your back!

Hope this helps!

If you have a shower can you get the shower head on a hose? I bath my girls in the utility sink using a kitchen hose I rigged up. Works great for us.

I bathe my boys in the tub. Our bathroom has a stand up shower with sliding doors and a separate, large garden tub. What I have been doing is putting shorts and a dirty shirt on, and getting in the tub with them. It works fine for me, and I have a lot more control if I'm in there with them (though it does sound a little weird  ) My only problem is the whole cup situation. I fill the cup up at least 50 times during each bath. I'm looking more for something like what Karen T posted, an attachment of some sort that would work with the tub faucet. I was hoping maybe there would be something that could screw in, or at least be more secure.

Any other suggestions are great though. It's good to hear how other people are bathing their pups.

I do Spanky in the shower.
I bought an expensive hand-held shower attachment that screws in behind the showerhead. I hated it. Then went to Petsmart and bought a cheap ($18.00) plastic one that installed the same way (the hose pops on & off) and love it.

We use one like the one Karen posted, and we use a pipe clamp with it to keep it in place. Works great for us, since we have a stand shower, and a regular bath tub. it still will fly off if you turn the water on too fast, too high, but not nearly as much as when we didn't use the pipe clamp (maybe once every few months i've done that with the pipe clamp on)

If you google "Portable shower head" you will find what you're looking for at a bunch of different places ... we got ours at lowes i think though.

i will sometimes get in the bathtub with one of them, or get on my knees on a garden kneepad outside the bathtub :tg

Helena,
That sprayer comes as an attachment to the bath tub faucet? Or only for a shower attachment? I would LOVE something like that as a portable shower head, but have not been able to find anything like that, that doesn't attach as an actual shower head?

Dani,

this model replaces the shower head on the chrome pipe and you don't need any tool (except may be a wet rag to unscrew the shower head and screw on the new one tight) to replace it - only teflon thin tape to roll around the pipe end to prevent leaks

it is also very practical if you travel and the places you visit only have a regular shower head :th-up

for those without a shower head, there are similar models that attach to the bath tub faucet, and have some kind of hardware to attach the hand shower to the wall at the height you want it (even adjustable ones on a long pipe kind of thing) - i'll find a pic of what i have in mind and post it later on

I've got bum knees and back so getting down to the dog's level is a problem for me. When they were little we solved it by placing a small fold up table in the tub with a nonslip matt on it and using the hand held shower. To contain them as puppies, a large plastic tub fits perfectly on the table and makes them feel more secure. Once they got large enough to start trying to jump out, we went without the plastic tub.

Now that they are over a year old, they are too big for that procedure so we switched to putting a low stool in the tub. I use one made for handicapped people that I picked up cheap at a rummage sale. I have the glass doors on my tub too so I just go in with them, shut the doors, sit on the stool and can use the hand held shower on it's long hose. Ours has the pause feature too which saves water. A flick of my toe lets the water out or keeps it in as desired for rinsing.

The last step is the hardest for us... Having two dogs, we usually do them both one right after the other. It's a two man job as I let one out - I have one of my kids grab the wet one and start drying while I do the second dog. Then once partially dry we toss a few towels on the floor and they root around and snuggle into them until they are dry. (Our two absolutely HATE being blow dried so we air dry them)

I have a walk in shower that has the spray nozzle that comes off the wall. I bought a Rubbermaid stool to sit on and that works best for us. Hopefully not TMI but I take my shower first then have the dog come in while I'm in there. Don't have to worry about getting my clothes wet :happy

If you only have a faucet to use, consider changing it to one of these types (called a faucet with shower diverter I think). Then you can just attach a hand shower. Most plumbing type places would know the various models and how they would fit your situation. I can tell you my mom had to get hers done when she became disabled and the one she had even had a nice wall mount for the shower head that could be placed anywhere around the tub.

Faucets are really easy to change as all you need to do usually is turn the water off (just a precaution) and then unscrew the old faucet and put on the new one (usually all you need is a bit of plumber's tape and a little screw driver to loosen the screw that is located at the bottom or the faucet near the wall). It really is a DIY job most people can handle without a problem. I bet other companies also make models but this is one by Delta.

That IS awesome! I thought this thread had died. I'm so glad that you posted Jean, as this would be perfect for us!

Thank you!
