Do you use a good conditioner? That might help a bit. thanks
I used a spray on conditioner but on her ears and head I used an olive oil treatment and let it stay in for several hours and her ears are so silky. One ear has a few gaps in it where I had to cut out the mats, but the other one looks fine.

Also be sure to brush your pup out well before the bath. wetting the hair makes the matts tighten making them harder to remove.
LOL, I learned that the hardway! what I wound up doing was shaving her legs - now my cocker looks like a brittney. She's got a punk hairdo and skinny little legs. Without all that hair she looks naked. The hair on her legs was kinda mushy - that's the only word I can think of to describe it, s I'm hoping when it grows back out it will look better.
It's a whole lot easier to keep it brushed out than it is to get the mats out for sure and that little rubber brush worked fine until it broke. I need to go to the feed store and get another one. I bought a little table and chair that fold up at walmart yesterday to groom her on, I might have to go back and get the stool though. She's pretty good about letting you groom her, she likes to primp and be pampered. She'll run to the washing machine and jump up for me to put her up there.
I clipped her on Thanksgiving, so I can easily remember that. I hope her hair grows back fast.
