Doing my homework reading through pedigrees...

How accurate is "red (/and white)" on pedigrees compared to actually being golden or buff(/and white)?

Can anyone point me towards some dogs that have/had dark red(/and white), the darker the better?

Trying to trace it...

Thanks.

I can't speak for pedigrees, since the coloration indicated is in the eye of the beholder. But Jim has had some beautiful red and white puppies over the years. Check out this link to Joanna's Puppies and especially Hudson. Those ears! :love

Technically there is no such thing as buff and white. The only real colour is red and white, but of course there are shading variations in the red (just like the shading variations in buff). Unfortunately a pedigree isn't going to indicate whether the dog was a rich red and white or a lighter red and white. You will only know that by looking at photos or video.

Eye of the beholder for sure.

Photos/video add another layer of complication with lighting.
