Did you notice his eyes when you picked him out? I think that Life's Little Paws had a dog in their rescue that has wide set eyes. I believe his name was Corey. I would ask them but I believe he did have sight issues (blind or nearly). It could simply be a coincidence.

No we did not notice at the breeders. Only after returning home then at times he looks wild eyed. Vet gave him a clean bill of health on day 2.
Thanks for your help; I am distressed greatly esp. when visitors come to see him and ask why he looks so angry.
Breeder had cerf and ortho testing - both dam and sire were declared healthy for breeding and dam was flown cross country or the breeding.
Pedigree is all ch. from parents as far back as the chart went so assumed the lineage on both sides (no line breeding) was healthy with no issues.

I can only see 2 pictures from your 1st post and all I see is one cute little puppy :hp :hp :hp But I'm not an expert in breeding or anything of that sort.

Many, many heartfelt thanks for responses. I'm currently super-sensitive as my Dad is in heart failure and going down fast. Your prayers are appreciated.
My photo program would not cooperate so I'm giving a link to a new 'puppy page' on my blog here: http://dinosdeliberations.blogspot.com/ ... -page.html
at the botton of that page you'll find, if interested, a link to my pet tribute/memorial page which has lots of great pets past and present!

Donna, in looking at all the super cute pictures of your new love bug, I think it might just be the angle that makes it seem different. I'm certainly no expert but its just my thought. (Might be some of that infamous cocker-tude coming through too!)

Hugs and prayers for you as you go through everything with your dad, I know it's not easy. :sad

I don't know if his eyes are wide-set, maybe a little, but take a look at the Zim babies when you first enter the site. They don't look much different. He certainly has the cocker-tude look down pat. :lol3
I think he is adorable. I love those buff babies. So long as he is healthy and you don't plan on showing or breeding him, I don't think it makes any difference as long as you love him. :love

Looks like a typical show bred, plush, buffy head to me. I wouldn't worry about it AT ALL!

Hi Donna, the puppy is super cute and has a lot of Cockertude. I am not an expert on eyes but they look beautiful. By the way what's your pup name. I am sorry about your dad, this forum has a lot of praying power so we will,be praying for you. We are neighbors, I am in Huntsville. Glad to know there is a forum member close by. There are not that many people from Alabama in the forum that I am aware. Enjoy your pup.

Oh my word is he CUTE!! I don't see anything wrong with his eyes, and since he's such a baby, some of that look may change once he starts to grow. I would not have any problem with that baby - so if you get tired of him, you just let me know, LOL. (Just kidding: You are probably already head over heels in love with him).

Heartfelt thanks everyone for your caring responses. I think he probably needs to 'grow' into his eyes, lol. God bless you all for the kindness you've shown.

Daisy and her siblings all looked like that as babies! Daisy does have vision problems, but that is completely unrelated to her wide-set eyes as a baby. Neither of her siblings have any problems, and Daisy's eyes (except for the cataracts) look completely normal now that she's a "big" girl. Daisy looked very grumpy in her baby pics too! :)

Thanks everyone for your responses. This has been a very busy week but finally had time last night to sit down with my "The World of the Cocker Spaniel" book and my concerns are totally gone! :wow This baby has wonderful lines and many in his pedigree are pictured in the book. I also went to the ASC site for info on the upcoming show in St. Louis and low & behold, the three puppies pictured upper left on the homepage are very much like Cappy. His facial expression? On some of his lines pictured! No more worries about that, shouldn't have worried initially but emotions are so keen now with Papa in sad shape. The forum has been such a blessing! :Clap
