:wv Hi All,
It's summer time and I remember that we go to the Land of Mosquitoes and Pine, the national cocker spaniel show in the Land of Humidity, and get a boat ride at Aunt Mary's house. But first we take a plane ride. This year Mom said no plane, just van. So we need to pack lots more stuff. I'm getting my suitcase ready. Here are two of my selection. One for formal events and one for driving through the West.

Got to go look at the rest of my wardrobe for other options. Need to get a move on it.

The tie is appropriate for state dinners when you are a Californian for sure....THE mouse and all....but I love the hat! Pack light, that way you can always shop.

:hi Hi All,

I'm waiting on Mom to finish packing her stuff so we can get on the road.

My stuff is all packed in the carrier on top of the van; and it is FULL! Plus I have two fancy metal boxes that are in the van. I'll try to get a photo of the metal boxes another day. It is time to get on the road.

As we left Los Angeles, the traffic got lighter, the green trees fewer, and the mountains bigger. And this was just on the first day.

OMG where have the days gone! I haven't done an update for several days. Let's see we traveled from Bishop CA across Nevada and I saw this sign right outside of Bishop.
Attachment:

Mom and Dad said that it was a very special sign -- not only for its historical significance--but because Solo's most popular Roving Canine Series -- Cockers Coast to Coast (Summer 2011). They went all the way across the US, also went into Canada, and visited many Forum friends. It's a Classic! viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5008&p=59642

I don't think my summer will be that adventurous. But I know there are some thing planned for this upcoming week. More soon.

OMG have I neglected my roving reporter duties. Solo's legacy has nothing to fear.

So on our way to Minnesota we stopped in Billings MT for 3 days of dog shows.

Dog shows aren't as much fun as other events because I have to have baths EVERY day and there is a lot of waiting.

But I won several ribbons, including placing 4th in the Owner-Handlers Sporting Group. This made Mom very happy.

After our stop in Billings, we headed to MN to the cabin. We have been chilling out since then. It really was "chilly" for the first two weeks. Who knew temperatures could be in the 50's in the summer :dk . And I still had to have baths. At least the view during the grooming was nice.

:hi Hi Folks,
It's me, Gotham. I'm bored. My Mom has been gone for days! She put up the agility equipment, but then had to go away for work. I hope she gets home soon. I need to practice my agility because (don't tell anyone) but I'm going to do agility at the Cocker Spaniel National show :YAY . I'm not very good and I need the practice.

I'm going to wait at the end of the driveway so when she gets home we can get right to practice.

Hi All,
It is very exciting here, I'm getting ready to go to Purina Farms (outside of St. Louis) to compete at the ASC Cocker Spaniel National Specialty. Tonight I was supervising Dad packing my tack boxes. I wanted to make sure he had my food dish and treats. He wanted to make sure the leashes, brushes, and shampoo was packed :roll .

:hi Hi All,
On our way to the Cocker National Show we stop in southern Wisconsin at Grandma and Grandpa's house. And we had surprise visitors! My people-cousins from OKC. I showed them how I do agility, and then I let them play with my agility equipment. Best of all I got some lovin' from my Cousin Kaylee.

Gotham, I love reading your reports and seeing your pics! Glad you made sure your Dad packed the important items.

How's it going? Are you in St. Louis? Are you practicing your agility??

Updates on their way. Very slow internet connection here in the North Woods. The carrier pigeons get tired doing the uploads to Youtube :lol2 .

Delayed report being prepared now. Stay tune for LONG OVERDUE reports. Numerous reasons for lack of updates including dealing with a serious mosquito infestation at the cabin requiring Mom to abandon the keyboard to assist Dad with home repair tools. And a even greater source of my delayed access to the computer was Mom's nearly nonstop work on preparation for the 2018 Cocker Spaniel National Specialty to be held next July in beautiful Albany, OR. Much more on that in future reports. But now, back to summer 2017.

:hi Hi All,

Unlike the legendary Solo the-roving-canine-reporter who excelled in nearly daily reports, it seems I'm more of a "feature series" type reporter. So here is my feature series on the 2017 Cocker Spaniel National Specialty.

After leaving Argyle we start driving south.

More from Day 1 of the American Spaniel Club Cocker Spaniel National Specialty…..

After receiving my Welcome Bag, I was getting mentally prepared for my agility runs – at least that is what Mom hoped :wnk. Truth be told I was distracted; ok I was A LOT distracted :OMY. I didn’t Q in my first two runs: novice standard agility or Time 2 Beat. There are videos, but Mom won’t let them see the light of day!

At the end of the day I had a chance to redeem myself in 16” Novice B Jumpers with Weaves -- and redeem myself I did :YAY. The run wasn't perfect, but it was good enough for a qualifying score. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LnovhoECBY. (Please notice that I stayed at the start line while Mom did a two jump lead-out!) More importantly, this was the 3rd time I qualified in novice jumpers so I earned my first agility title: NAJ. (That is why Mom was so excited at the end of the run).

My official name is now
CH CT Samamari N April’s The Dark Knight NAJ BN RN TDU CGC.

This translates to CH = Conformation champion; CT = Champion in Tracking; NAJ = Novice Agility Jumpers with Weaves; BN = Beginner Novice Obedience; RN = Rally Novice; TDU = Tracking Dog Urban; and CGC = Canine Good Citizen.

Not only was that a qualifying run, but it was 1st place and Highest Scoring Cocker Spaniel in the class. I got lots of ribbons, a medallion, and nice tote bag for that run.
Attachment:
File comment: What a haul for just one run!!!!

Unfortunately it would be the only qualifying agility run that I would have for the weekend. But it wouldn’t be the only qualifying event at the national show – that is the story for tomorrow.

Respectfully submitted,
Gotham Roving Canine Feature Series Reporter
