:wv Hi All,

I know this happened a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to let you know that I didn't over do it with the Butthead Club meetings. At the West Coast Cocker Spaniel Club Specialty I earned awards in two different venues: obedience and conformation. In the morning I qualified in my obedience class and earned a major award: High In Trial. And I was High Scoring Champion of Record (a special prize for a cocker who is also a breed champion. Solo used to win this award so I'm honored to follow in his pawsteps).

File comment: Love the pretty ribbons. After the photo was taken, another trophy was found -- a big silver tray!

Then after a quick sponge bath and blow dry for me, and wardrobe change for Mom, we competed in conformation. It has been over a year since we had done this event! We did ok :th-up and earned Best of Variety (Black) and then Owner Handler Best of Breed/Best in Specialty Show. We got lot more pretty ribbons and some breakable glass things that I wasn't allowed to touch.

After winning all this stuff, I decided I needed a vacation. But that is a post for another day.

Respectfully submitted,

Congrats on Gotham's first HIT win! There will be many more in the future.

As for the OHBOB, it is as expected of the handsome boy. :-) Congrats!

BTW, are you coming to our Enumclaw specialty?

I hope to have you and Gotham here. There are a few teams that are relatively new and can benefit from more positive reinforcement to the human part of the team from other handlers. Competing with one's first performance dog can be challenging.

We can't make Emuclaw this year because USC's semester starts on Aug. 21 and I teach two classes that day. If our semester started a week later, then I might have been able to convince Randy that we should make a detour through WA on our way home from the midwest.

Bummer. I would get my obedience sisters (non-cocker people) to help me out. We need our new teams at the ASC Nationals next summer.

Like I said, thanks to Louie, my skin became one mile thick. Without that, I don't think I could have survived my newbie days.
