Just wanted to share that my lovely Maurice passed away on Christmas day from IMHA. He went Home for Christmas just like the song. We are completely heartbroken and still can not believe he is gone. He was nine years old on the 17th and was diagnosed on saturday the 24th after I noticed he was lethargic, did not want his treats, his gums were pale almost yellow and had blood in his urine. I can not understand how he went to being fine on one day and gone the next! I am still totally devastated!
I will love you forever! Good bye my baby, till we meet again.

How heartbreaking! I am so sorry. It's awful for it to happen so quickly. Remember the good times you gave each other.

Marcia,

I am so very sorry for your loss of your baby, Maurice. :cry

IMHA is such a deadly disease and, as you stated can and will happen very fast. For all Zim Cocker Spaniel Forum members, please read up on this disease. Knowledge is power!

Again, so sorry for your loss of Maurice. We have a new angel.... Please watch for postcards from Maurice. They can be very subtle, but will still be sent to you... :hp

I am so very sorry to hear this. IMHA is a horrible, scary disease, and too many cockers have succumbed to it. You are in my thoughts and prayers. :cry

Sorry for your loss.

May Maurice run free and easy over the Rainbow Bridge.

May he find our Abby and Calvin there.

I'm sure they will make him welcome!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I also remember when you lost Blu. IMHA is awful and can be very quick, with no warning and sometimes nothing can be done. I rejoice when one beats it, and some have such as Annie, but my heart breaks when I hear of one who lost the battle.

Thanks everyone. You have been here for us since I rescued him. Terribly sad to have lost Blu and Maurice. Such a devastating disease! Wish there were more obvious signs so I could have caught it early. Hope no one else ever has to go thru what I am right now. Glad I have so many supportive people to help me thru it. A happier and better new year for all of us! Thanks again.

Oh my God, Marcia...I'm so so sorry. I was so busy posting about my own problems with Ruger, that I just saw this. When I first read about IMHA, I was scared. So awful that one day a dog can be fine, and then suddenly get this. What a horrible disease and I'm so sad that it struck Maurice.

Maurice was a beautiful boy...so glad you rescued him and gave him a good home. Not sure how long you had him but I know you'll treasure the time you had with him. Nine seems much too young. My heart breaks for you. Sending you lots of hugs...

I am so sorry.
I know the devastation... I have been there.
I pray you find peace and I do know you will get your postcards....like Dawn said, they are subtle but they do come.

Marcia:

I am so sorry to hear about Maurice. Such a devastating disease, and to lose him on Christmas day is even more horrible. Prayers that you will find peace and healing in the days ahead. Cancer and IMHA...why can't someone find a cure?

This is so heartbreaking. Rest in peace Maurice. The traces of blood in his urine are a clear indication of urinary tract infection. I'm so sorry.
