Our Calvin, that we adopted from Second Chance Cocker Rescue last September 12th, went to the vet to have a skin tumor removed last Tuesday.

We found out that he has skin cancer.

The vet gives him two to 10 months.

When we adopted him, the vet thought he was about four.

This is too young to have a death sentence.

We will do everything we can to prolong his life and make him comfortable.

Sorry to hear that. He is way too young for this.
Just thought I would mention this, don't know all the details, but the manager of the feed store that I go to, 2 years ago when I was there, I asked her how her dog was doing, she has a cocker spaniel also. She surprised me and said her dog just had surgery for skin cancer, which shocked me at the time. The dog was also getting vaccines to keep it in remission. I was really amazed at that. I had never heard about that. When I saw her a couple months ago the dog was still doing good. The first few months they get a shot every 2 weeks then every six months.
I never investigated it at the time but I just did now. The vaccine is called Oncept they usually use it for a dog with oral cancer, I do know that the manager's dog had it on his face by his nose. She had noticed a spot by his nose and watched it to for about a month before bringing the dog in. She did catch it in the early stages, so I know that, that helped out for the dog. I don't know if that is an option for your dog or not. The vaccine is like what they are starting to use on people now, you know it as immunotherapy. Just thought I would pass it along. Best of luck with Calvin, I hope he beats the odds

I just checked where you live. Rosey had squamous cell cancer and received supportive acupuncture and homeopathic supplements from Dr. Gael Parks (who treats both humans and animals). Animals are treated at a vet clinic up in the valley. FWIW the recommended supplements, tumeric and mushrooms, I have seen in vet research articles as helping in cancer cases. Google Gael Parks, acupuncturist, and call her human office and tell them you want to bring a cocker spaniel to see her.

Thank you for your sympathy towards Calvin.

I will monitor all suggestions and give them to my wife to discuss later.

My wife took Calvin to the vet this afternoon.

Apparently, the vet knows that Calvin has malignant cancer, does know exactly which one, but that he will eventually die from it.

He told my wife we could do tests to determine exactly which one he has, but it won't change anything.

He will start him on pregnisone, at some time, to slow down the tumor.

We hope he the vet is wrong and that he will have years instead of months.

He's such a gentle soul and howls when he's happy.

Another thing that I forgot to mention, it has been 2 years :wnk is that along with the vaccines that her dog gets, she took herself to a heath food store and got supplements that they recommended, to help"boost" up the dogs immune system. I do remember her mentioning tumeric as one of them. Because she works at a feed store, she was aware of feeding dogs a proper diet, and they recommended a change with that, which she did also.

Oh my goodness. Calvin looks soooo sweet. What an adorable face. I am so sorry to hear he has cancer. I hope the prognosis is wrong and perhaps that some of the suggestions you received here may help. It's worth a shot. I hope you have many more years with him. He's lucky to have you.

What a sweet boy, still a baby. He is worth all of the efforts to fight this cancer. I will keep him in my prayers to win this battle. :hp

I do not know your vet or your relationship with him, but might I suggest a getting a second opinion? There is no harm in seeking additional medical advice.
