I had to put Saydee down this morning and I am not good. She was not feeling well. Had not wanted to eat. She also slept all the time. Today she had a vet check and her kidney things( functions) were very bad. She just had it checked a month ago and all was not good but not horrid. He said the machine could not even measure it. I asked him what he would do and he said she was not going to get better and would just be worse. She was so bad this morning. Throwing up and pooping at the same time. I could not see her suffer. I have never been with out another dog to come home to . I have always had two dogs. I am going to get a puppy as soon as I can find one. I always feel that that means Saydee did a great job,. I can never replace her but she, and all my dogs have made me want another . They did their Job.
I just miss her so much. She loved to Kayak with me and I will miss my lake buddy!!

Jeanie:

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have enjoyed hearing of Saydee's adventures with you. It's never a good time to lose them, but around the holidays makes it even worse. I hope you will soon find another little buddy to help heal your heart.

My heart breaks for you. I'm sure there is a new little buddy out there just waiting for you... in the meantime, I hope the memories of your 12 wonderful years with Saydee bring you peace.

Sorry for your loss. We all know you did everything for Saydee. May she run free, healthy and easy over the Rainbow Bridge.

Please remember the good times with her. She will be waiting for you.

We put our Abby down in April. We know a little about you are going through.

When you are ready, please consider a rescue. We have two and couldn't imagine being without them.

There are great rescued dogs available. They seem to know that you saved them.

I loved your kayaking posts.
I know we cannot say anything that makes it any eaiser, but do know that we truly understand.

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan."

I'm so sorry, Jeanie. Like somebody said, cherish the good moments with her and hope you get a new puppy soon, which of course won't replace Saydee, but will surely fill that void and bring happiness to your heart again. Meanwhile, be strong and, although there's so little we can do, we are here for you.

A big hug from Catalonia.

I talked to a breeder yesterday that has a four month old. She was not good for show but is not house trained and says that is how she does it. And no one has problems training them. Is that not weird. I have never heard that. Are show dogs not house trained. I eliminated that right away. She does have two knew puppies but will wait until they are months old to see which is show quality. I have two more leads but I am so lost. Saydee needed me all the time. She was with me constantly. Not seeing or hearing made her depend on me and she was with me most hours of the day. I hate being in this house.
I have never felt this way but I always had two dogs and there was one here to help the grief. Sorry for my rant
but I am so sad and lost. I can't stop crying.

I am so sorry to hear about Saydee, I enjoyed her kayaking pics. I think we all understand the grief you feel and we all know how hard an empty house is without our furbaby. I hope you can take comfort knowing and remembering what a wonderful life life Saydee had because of you and that another furbaby will also have that wonderful life, when the right one comes along.

Jeanie...

How well I remember how empty the house seems after a loss.... be gentle with yourself. Know that you will find another pup who will help ease the hurt that Saydee left behind. A new puppy will not make you miss Saydee less ... it will take it's own place in your heart.

As for breeders... you know what to look for in a good breeder. I know it's hard to wait but sometimes it's worth it. I waited almost 2 years for Chesapeake. I've never in my whole life gone that long without a dog! (hopefully it won't be that long ever again!) She was worth it! Go with your knowledge and instincts. There is a puppy out there who is destined to be YOUR pup.

I'm looking forward to hearing you post the joy of bringing your new baby home soon!

Talked to breeders yesterday. Very few females and none available. Saydee's breeder is helping and her grandfathers breeder has two but can not decide if she wants to keep both for show. I just don't feel good and am still so sad and lonesome. know I have to be patient but it is too lonesome in this house.

Again I am so very sorry. Are there any shelters near you perhaps you could volunteer at? Just spending a little time with them might help

Jeanie:

I just wanted to weigh in on one of your comments, above. When I got Emma from her breeder at 15 months, she wasn't housebroken, either. They generally keep show dogs in kennels a lot for traveling and they just "go" in the kennel. I had a bit of a hard time training Emma until I got a set of Poochie Bells to hang on the door. It didn't take long for her to catch on, and she now crashes into them routinely (nothing dainty about my beautiful little girl) when she wants to go out. 15 months was a little old, but I wouldn't hesitate to take 4 month old if you otherwise like the breeder and her program. It won't be that hard to housebreak a dog that age.
