Well .. turns our Rebel (like his brother Arlo) has an interest life too.

"Rebel's Planet" - A pretty darn good place to be :)

Today our little guy won his first 3 point major.!!!

Caramy Highland Rebel With a Cause (CH Braewood Earl of Erroll x CH Tricep No Contest at Caramy)
WD/BOW Winners Dog and Best Of Winners
- for a 3 point major today at the tender age of 6 months and one week.

Bred by Gale Mitzner and owned by Leigh Fortier and Melinda McLeod.

Wonderfully handled by Stephanie Herrmann (and The Fox's mom Pamela Bagley)
- Thank you Stephanie for the great job of introducing our boy into the show world.

And, thank you Gale for entrusting this amazing little guy to us.

Rebel "With a Cause" :YAY

Photo taken during a visit with his handler Stephanie Herrmann.
(will post the photo taken today with Stephanie and the Judge soon).

So this has been an amazing weekend for us.
Rebel with his FIRST dog show and taking a MAJOR.
This ALL began a few years ago with our first beloved Arlo (now 4!) ...
And, immersing us into the American Cocker Spaniel World.
The journey has been wonderful and we've found a family of lovely and generous people.

Since Rebel won an award - here is his (and our) acceptance speech.
FIRST - Jim Zimmerlin ... it is ALL your fault.
Melinda begged for years for a dog. But, I just did not like many breeds
- so I began my search for the perfect fit for our family.
Once I landed on the Zim Cocker forum and the photos Jim has taken. That was IT
- The American Cocker Spaniel was the one for us.
Melinda saw the photos (she too is a sucker for beauty)
- and more than beauty that playful yet nobel personality shined through.
So off we were - Arlo was in our home within months. Through the forum we met a new group of friends.
- Debbie Mahitka my first buddy (who helped me learn of pedigree and kept a watch out for our perfect next dog)
.. Julie Hydro who steered me in the right direction and gave Arlo his first real Cocker cut
- it was so nice to suddenly not have a dog that everyone thought was a funny looking poodle :dk
Then there was Gale Mitzner:
She took me by the hand and introduced me to so many people like Tracy Lynn Carroll
(Arlo's groomer - who FYI did great this weekend) :joy
Shirley Sanders - who also gave me the "what's up about what I might consider when selecting our next puppy"
and was also generous with the numerous inquisitive questions.

Then there is Colleen Keough who has been training Arlo in Tracking
and she ALSO has taken me under her wing,
- THANK you SO much for the unending help you've given not to mention your patience
(something you've ALL given me) ..

- Once again - to Gale Mitzner who entrusted Rebel to our home.

Last and positively not least...
- We met our handler for Rebel - Stephanie Herrmann (thank you Shirley Sanders and Gale Mitzner)
.. It is such an honor to have you choose to work with Rebel.
We'll do our very best to help shape him into the happiest, healthiest puppy
and have a life full of interesting and fulfilling experiences.

XOXOXO to ALL of you. :Clap Leigh Fortier and Melinda McLeod

REBEL REBEL …
So - I fed Rebel and then while he was eating - I took Arlo out to potty.
Once finished eating, as is his habit, Rebel will run to one of us (in this case Melinda because I am out) to remove his snood.

Once I return this is what I find…

Well, you got his name right. :ROFL I would say he was set up. There is no way that something that adorable would make such a mess. :hp

Another paper-obsessed Cocker! Jennie still loves TP, even at 19 months. I sometimes think I'll never be able to use the toilet paper holder again... or read the paper anywhere other than the kitchen counter... or have an open container for the recycling and garbage... :ROFL

I've got a 10 year old that recently emptied a brand-new box of Kleenex and has trained me to keep my workroom waste basket up on a table so she can't reach it. Don't think she will ever outgrow it.

Seriously, Leigh, all he was doing was trying to wipe his mouth after eating and couldn't find the paper towels! Give the guy a cookie for being so smart. :ROFL

Little devil. Love his protest snort when he looked up at you.

I have a theory about the TP roll obsession. My Doberman had it too. He was a fast runner and one day, a neighbor's hen got loose and was running around my parent's huge yard. He catches up to it. Hen plays dead and he starts plucking her feathers out. Not biting. Just plucking a feather at a time like it was some kind of a game. It reminded me of when he tore paper apart for fun.

I was mortified. I leashed him, picked up the terrified hen and took her back home. She was dead still, heart pounding when I put her down. She was just fine, fewer feathers and all. Could it be they just enjoy it because it reminds them of hunting birds?

Rebel is gorgeous! Easy to see how he's winning majors. Love, love, love his pictures.

I had a good chuckle when I read that "while Rebel was eating, (you) took Arlo out" because, in my house, eating only takes 16 seconds!! Which leaves lots of time to be naughty. (yes, I've timed them.)

Cricket doesn't bother with the TP much, but Sophie Loves it. She likes to play in it, and she likes to literally Eat It, as in, take a bite and chew it up, and swal.... swallow it if I don't catch her in time! Silly girl.

Oh how I can relate :lol2 It is one of Diva's favorite past times! If we leave the paper hanging down to low on the roll look out! :tg

Rebel is darling and being a typical pup, although he did seems to listen well when you were talking to him :wink

Congrats on your show, he will be in the big time soon!
