Hi all things have been good and Buddy has been doing quite well since he injured his back a year ago! I was home today working in the yard and the boys were laying in the yard "Being very good" watching me. I needed to get a drink and thought the boys should get a drink too.... I said come on let's go in and get a drink and Leo took off to the house and Buddy just laid there looking at me. I called him and he got up really slow, like everything was stiff and kind of shuffle hopped towards me not really using his back legs. He got to the deck and stopped and looked to me to pick him up. I had to carry him into the house and he has been whimpering and acting like he is in a lot of pain. We have him confined and I put both dog beds together so he has a lot of padding to lay on. I will call our vet first thing in the morning when they open. Please send healing thoughts our way for my gentle boy! It's so heart wrenching to see him in pain! He is so good and I can see he is hurting a lot..... he is asleep right now and looks to be as comfortable as he can be. Will let you know what we find out.

Healing prayers coming for Buddy. Once they have hurt their back, they are susceptible to injuring it again, unfortunately. Feel better soon, Buddy. :sad

Oh no I am so sorry. Buddy and I are sending our prayers. My Buddy has had three back injuries and all three have healed on their own with rest and prednisone. The last time he could not even walk with his back legs and we were carrying him in and out to pee but with the prednisone and crate rest that got better really fast and then it too 8 months to be able to jump up on his chair again. No jumping on our bed though ever again. It is too high and I will never let him do that and he knows it is too high. The chair is very low to the ground and he can still see out the window.

I pray every day Buddy will not have another back injury but do think it is inevitible. He is just prone to getting them. Our best thoughts and prayers to your Buddy. Please update us. Buddy and Kris

Cassie and Hailey and I are sending healing prayers and good energy to Buddy. Like Terry said, these back injuries tend to reoccur, and it is heart wrenching to us. Please let us know what the vet says, and know that a lot of positive thoughts are coming your way...we love Buddy.

Oh Tom I feel just horrible for you and Buddy! You know of course that he will get better. It is just a waiting and resting process. I have a bad back and it was really hard for me carrying my Buddy back and forth, in and out of the house, for potty as it took him weeks to be able to make it up the one step it took to get back into our house. But it was well worth it. He was so very proud that first day he actually made it up the step. He looked backwards and up to me with the cutest look on his face. Our prayers are with you both!!! Kris & Buddy

Good evening all it's Saturday 7/6 an update on my "Buddy Bud!" the meds seem to be helping some what, I think they are taking the edge off his pain, as He is trying to use his back legs a little more, but I can see the frustration. He is not a happy camper and is still walking with a lot of effort in his gate. He is getting up from laying down by having to make three or four attempts and then he shuffles when he walks. I know this is bothering him as he has this pitiful look on his face. He is such a good, loving, happy dog and never gives us any trouble. It just kills me that he is having to go through this back trouble again.

So sorry he is still struggling with his back...I used a sling with my old guy Champ when he had his back issues. It helped him get up....and helped him up and down the stair, until I built his long ramp. I got it at Petco, and it had two handles that were very strong. We will continue our prayers and positive energy, and you guys keep up the convalescence. Buddy you take it easy man...it is hard I know, but we want you to feel better ~

Just hoping that Buddy is gaining strength and mobility this week. Hate it when our little buddies aren't feeling right.

Hope Buddy is recouperating and getting better. We are continuing to pray and send positive thoughts...it is hard for the fur kids to slow down in the Summer...and as he feels better, he will want to do more...and should still be resting. Bless his little nose!

Hi all me again Buddy and Leo's Dad Tom.... Mr. Buddy was a "BAD" boy today he managed to jimmy the gate to the basement stairway and had it completely open and He and Leo were playing Ball on the stairs. I was busy getting ready for work and didn't notice that they were not Mr. Doom and Gloom in the hall way as usual. The only thing that gave them away was the fact that Buddy got down but couldn't get back up the stairs. I heard barking and whining and went to investigate and He was half way up and his legs had given out and he was stuck. Of course Leo was Mr. Innocent and acted like he had nothing to do with any of it! "These two are enough to drive a Dad to drink!" I picked him up carried him to the top, checked him out and he seems none the worse for the experiance, the little stinker.... :bang

Sending prayers for Buddy. It seems that so many Cockers these days have back problems (mine included). Glad he's feeling better.
