Ok... Here is a thought...

Famous dog names (as in books, movies, or owned by famous people).

Because they are all stars :)

http://bunny-butt.tripod.com/fam_dogs.htm

So - theme is celebrity dogs.

We also thought of Lewis & Clark - but as we looked over the history - learned they ate over 200 dogs and "Seaman" was the one they spared.

Okay so I did a little research; Leila is of Arabic origin meaning night beauty (since she is black it makes perfect sense) :roll

So how about names which mean "beautiful" in different languages, below is a link, at the top of the page it says female names but I see quite a few which could also be used for the little boys.

Thank you for all the great suggestions for puppy themes.

And oh my, Leigh, I never knew that trivia bit about Lewis and Clark and the 200 dogs!

And Deb, when I was searching for a name for Leila, I googled 'words that mean black' and found the name Leila. I thought it fit her well.

We have come up with a few puppy theme names as well, I will share them later in the week, to see what you all think. :sm

Wow! Lots of choices there!
Are you expecting only black, and black-n-tan?

Maybe a chance for a buff pup. Both Leila's and the sire's dam were buff.

I like the Olympian theme too, perhaps famous athletes?

Are these puppies going to be Oregonians or Cali babies?
I'm hoping to see pictures of some lovely black & tans - someday a black & tan will call me mommie (but not as long as I'm married to Jeff :evil ).

These puppies will be Oregonian pups, as they will be born in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Any theme should be something YOU relate to. I've named lots of pets (and stuffed animals) after Muppets and Fraggles (Rugby - a tiger in A Muppet Christmas Toy, Sweetums, Barkley, Wembley, etc.). I've named a whole series of cats with "something" Paws (Tiger Paws, Panther Paws, Thunder Paws, etc.) I have a friend who names his pets after Star Trek characters (Seven, Q, Worf, etc.). Hunger Games has some good names (Katniss, Peeta, Glimmer, Primrose, etc.). Or choose names from different books (Ribsey from Beverly Cleary's books, Bodger and Chance from The Incredible Journey, Rowsby from Watership Down, Bob from Agatha Christy, and Walter from, I'm not kidding, Walter the Farting Dog). Hope that gives you some ideas.

Hi all :hi

Leila's ultrasound is scheduled for Aug 1, so we will soon know how many babies we are getting! I am so excited to meet these babies!

My kids and I came up with a few themes for the litter; what do you think about these?

Leila's AKC name is "Summer Nights", the song from the movie 'Grease'.
So, we were thinking of following that same theme, such as songs from movies.

Another theme would be groups from tv shows. If we have pups; 3 girls and one boy, we could name them Charlie, Jill, Sabrina and Kelly for the original Charlie's Angels.

I still am considering the Olympic theme and the names that mean 'Beautiful'. And I really like the seasons or weather theme, since Leila has Summer in her name.

So many decisions!

What about "Little Rascals"? 'Cuz pups are little rascals!
Spanky, Darla, Alfalfa, Buckwheat, Stymie, Jackie, and Pete (after the Rascals' dog)

Debra Winger named her puppy "Pete" because that's what he did: pee and eat! :gig

I don't know, I kinda like "Sierra" for a little girl :hp after all "Miss Leila and Mr. Mighty" ment at the Grand Sierra :gig oops I forgot about what happens in Reno! :nw Miss Diva has a new trick and we didn't even teach it to her :joy I have a blanket with a long fringe on it - and she keeps walking back and forth under the fringe very very slowly petting herself. :ROFL It is so funny to watch her. She also does it on the livingroom curtains as they very softly drag across her back :dk , she is such a silly puppy! She sends "high fives" to Louie, Cooper, Bridgette and Ms. Leila :love :run So glad to hear that they will be "Oregonians". We are headed out Monday so keep us informed - especially Uncle Gary! :ROFL

Sharon, you hit the nail on the head!

That's exactly what I am thinking! Great minds think alike!
We even had a 'Grease' night the other evening and watched the movie.

Ahh, one of my favorite movies! :th-up I could watch it over and over. Now if you have a real frisky pup you can always name it "Grease Lightning"! :ROFL I do believe that Uncle Gary will be headed your way either early or mid September! :joy His comment was "we have to go see the pups". Hummm, never know what that man is thinking! :bang We will I am sure have service, headed out tomorrow, but I will try to keep in touch by email and or here! to see babies early :YAY Will be in state of WA and Eastern Oregon, coming back through McKenzie Pass -- Ms. Diva sends tail wags to Cooper, Louie, Bridgette, and Lovely Leila.
