So here is a problem I can't quite wrap my head around. It's been more than a week since Conrad arrived and he has been doing great with both the crate and potty training. He never soils his crate and almost always goes for the pad for both peeing and pooping barring minor accidents.

Over the last few days, however, he started lying on the wee-wee pad instead of his pillow bed, crate or towel (all of which he uses throughout the day). Once every so often, he would take some of his toys over to the pad and start nibbling on them. I tried to discourage Conrad by offering him distractions and alternatives. When that didn't work, I started to ignore him whenever he went in that particular direction. I don't think any of this helped, as he recently started tearing the pad apart and rolling around with it. :bang What really puzzles me is the fact that he would still use this pad for potty, but would simply go for it when it is clean or moderately clean.

What am I doing wrong? Why is it so easy for him to make the distinction (between "home" and "potty") with his crate, yet so difficult when it comes to the wee-wee pad?
