After telling people for years that I wanted to start giving tracking lesson, I have finally cleared my schedule to do so. The first introductory clinic will be Monday, March 16. More information below or PM me.

“Nose to the Ground”
Introduction to AKC Tracking

Monday March 16, 2015
9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Garfield Park, South Pasadena (Northeast side of park at corner. Park along Stratford)
$75.00 per dog
Maximum 6 dogs

Equipment: Dog, collar or harness, 6 – 15 foot lead (NO flexi-leads), lots of great treats cut into very small pieces and LOTS of water.
Crate for dog to rest between activities
Chair for handler to rest.
Overview of AKC Tracking
In tracking, the dog learns to follow a designated scent and to find “lost” articles with that scent. In competitions, dogs are never off-leash; they wear harnesses and work on 10 – 40 foot lines (depending on tracking conditions). My clinic introduces dog/handler teams to the most fundamental skill of tracking – getting the dog’s nose to the ground on your command.

I would SO love to do this with Emma, whom I think is part bloodhound. Would I check through AKC site for training here in Memphis - or more locally?
