I've found that I can not read the manual that came with my new camera (no great surprise), so I went online looking for some simple introductions for the Canon Rebel T3. It's been too many years since I last used anything but a bridge camera, so my skills and knowledge need some brushing up.

I came across this intro to digital photography ... great for beginners who want to move beyond the auto setting on their cameras, and as a refresher course for others. Of course, like other "freebies" they want to sell you something -- the complete photography course, but you are not obligated.

I thought I'd share the link in case anyone else wants to get three weeks of tips, hints, and videos.

Cindy,
Here is PDF version of the T3 manual:

You should be able to enlarge it on your computer. There are always some camera specific stuff.

Thanks, Stella. I really appreciate your help!!! I was able to download it and save it to both my computer and tablet ... I also printed out some great "cheat sheets" in case I'm out and run into a problem. I also ordered the Canon Rebel T3 for Dummies book because I was told it was large type ... Not quite large enough, but I am able to read it for short periods of time with a magnifier ... I must say, it is simple and is full of good hints and tips. I also learned a few new things from the free photo course -- especially how to focus automatically and then switch to manual mode to do a series of action photos and keep them in focus throughout. It's probably not something that everyone will use, but any help seeing/focusing for me is a bonus. I also ordered a hand grip that is fantastic in helping to stabilize the camera for hand held shots. I think I'm comfortable enough with the new camera, that it's going to the hospital when our new (grand)baby is born in the next few days. She should be here no later than Monday (scheduled C-section if Baby #2 doesn't arrive on her own) ... and it seems she's waiting as long as possible to arrive.
