Casper was over 15 years old. I know he lived a long and happy life but I'm still heartbroken.
He had stopped eating dry food recently, started drooling a lot and acting disoriented. I took him to the vet and they found a mass on his esophagus. They told me he most likely wouldn't survive the surgery to try and remove the mass. It grew too fast and was restricting his breathing.
Last night around 7PM he crossed the rainbow bridge.

Casper was the happiest, sweetest, funny dog. He loved everyone and everything. I adopted him from the rescue I volunteer with and his family that were forced to give him up, contacted me once a month for updates. They had to move cross country and couldn't take him into the housing/apartment.

I know I will have to go through this again..and again. I know it won't get any easier.
This morning when I woke up I thought it was a bad dream and was so happy to wake up from it. Then I remembered it happened and Casper is gone.

My only joy right now is taking care of Biscuit and Belle (and kitties of course!) plus looking at all the pictures I have of Mr.Casper and remembering the good times.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I truly know how you feel. I went through the same thing about 3 years ago with my dear Bentley. He was almost 17 but it still broke my heart. I hope you will have another cocker to love someday soon.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Casper sounds like he was the perfect boy. Fly free little Casper, you have your angels wings now.

I am so sorry for your loss, too. They make such a big print on our hearts and a big hole when they leave us. Thank you for being there for him. {{{{HUGS}}}

I, too, remember when you adopted Casper and now I'm sorry for your loss. Kudos to you for giving him such a loving home in his senior years. Say hi to Shiloh at the Bridge, sweet boy.

So very sorry to hear about Casper. It's so hard when we lose our beloved Cockers. My Bonnie girl was 16 1/2 when she went to the Bridge in 2008 and she'll always have a place deep in my heart.
Sending love, prayers, and sympathy, :hp

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Casper. We too just had to make that difficult decision to have our beautiful buff cocker spaniel Jazzmine, put out of her pain very early this morning. She was diagnosed with kidney disease in November and she already was going through Cushings disease and chronic pancreatitis. We tried everything we could, but to no avail. I certainly feel your loss and pain. I also feel the terrible sting of losing my dear, dear friend and companion, but I know I will see her and all my other babies that I have lost over the years again one day. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Lori W. from Milwaukee, WI
