Thanks for posting this beautiful picture. My Annie crossed over yesterday, and that looks just like her. She was a beautiful chocolate Cocker Spaniel that I loved with all my heart. I would do anything to have her back. The vet found a massive tumor yesterday. She didn't give me much hope that removing it would be successful. Not wanting to put Annie through anymore pain, she was put to sleep while I held her. Hope the pain lessens soon. It doesn't seem to help much that she lived to be almost 13. No amount of time is ever enough.

Mindy I am sorry for your loss. I am sure you did whats best for her and her pain is gone. Maybe my Holly, Peaches and Tucker were there to receive her as members of this forum. I lost Holly 2weeks ago and the pain has not gone away. Remember the good times and cherrish her memory.

Mayrah,
So glad to get your post, but so sorry that you are going through this pain. I feel worse today than I did yesterday and have been regretting that I did not think to cut a lock of Annie's hair. I am having her cremated so called the vet's to see if the crematorium had picked her up yet from the vet's. I asked them if they would cut a lock of her hair, but they said she had already been "wrapped" up. I then called the crematorium, and the guy that I talked to so they could do that for me. I don't know if that will help or not, but I miss her so much and just would like to have something physical to hold onto. After she lost her sight, she didn't play much with toys, so there's really no toys I can hold onto that she played with.

Yes, hopefully your furkids have met up with Annie, and they're all playing, as happy as can be. That is a good thought to have.

If it helps to talk about Holly, I would love to hear about her. I have found that it helps to write about Annie with people who understand ("dog people").

Mindy, I'm so sorry for your loss. The pain subsides in time, but never goes away.

So sorry for your loss, Mindy. My last cocker lived until she was 16 - and it still wasn't long enough in my opinion. The pain will lessen, but it never really goes away. The best cure I've found is to get another cocker and start all over again, but that's not for everyone. Take care.

TinaP - Thanks for writing. I was hoping Annie would make it until at least 14, but then again, that wouldn't have been long enough. I've had Cockers all my life, and the oldest one was 14. I have 2 other Cockers now and a Clumber Spaniel. It helps to have other dogs, but all dogs are different, and I'm missing Annie's sweet personality. I think I'm starting to have less tears now but still don't want to do much. The forums help a lot where I can reach out to other people. Thank you again. Your Cocker is beautiful!
