We lost our beloved Cooper yesterday to IMHA. The smartest dog I've ever met -- we will miss him every day, forever.

Cici --

Thank you. Cooper was 15-1/2 years old. I adopted him when he was 4 years old -- the people who had him had cats first, and he would chase them -- so, they took him to their vet to have him put to sleep (there ARE MANY other options!!!). The vet had them sign him over to him, then called ACSR to see if we could re-home him. As soon as I laid eyes on him, I knew he wouldn't be going up for adoption -- I was going to adopt him myself! We have many, many "Cooper's Adventures" stories and lots of good memories. The house seems so quiet and empty now....

A dog is just a toy to many. :(

I am so glad you found each other and he was so very fortunate to have found you. And lived a long, wonderful life! You are a wonderful person!

Thank you .... we're missing him like crazy. It still doesn't seem possible that he's gone. I keep expecting him to come bouncing around the corner. And, I still think about giving him his meds in the morning and evening, etc. and go for our evening walks. He loved going for our walks .....

We get to know each other only through this forum, but our forum friends become so important to us that we are heartbroken when they are hurting. Your beautiful pictures of Cooper brought me to tears this morning. Jennie and I will be sending you lots of hugs and prayers as you come to terms with your loss.

"Every once and a while a dog enters your life... and changes everything." It sounds like that quote could have been written for you and Cooper.

Teri,
So sorry for your loss. Cooper was a beauty! Having lost four already my heart crys for you. Our Diva is five and I sure hope we get another ten years of joy with her before she joins all the wonderful furbabies at the rainbow bridge. It isn't the same when they leave us, and slowly your heart will start to heal a bit and your thoughts will go to another furbaby to add to you life. Our lives are not the same without them, particularly if we have been giving them medications and such for years. Diva has eye drops every other day and predisone every 3rd day.

Prayers to you, Cooper run free on the rainbow bridge with all our other loved ones.
