Well, it has been a difficult few days. I posted all about this on Facebook, but got to thinking tonight that there are a lot of the old time forum members who have followed Coco's life for many years and may not be on Facebook and know what happened. I did post awhile back here on the forum that I needed prayers for her and want to thank all of you who helped us out with that. I know the prayers were heard. Coco managed to live an additional 4 months after being in acute congestive heart failure on February 1st this year. Thanks to a few good pieces of advice from forum members I was able to get her on the right medications and she had a pretty good February, March, and April. About the middle of May she started really going downhill on me and when she stopped eating last Sunday I knew we were about out of time. She had become very restless and uncomfortable at night and I could see that she was in a lot of distress. So on Tuesday this week Dr. Matt came to the house and sent her on her journey. It was easy and peaceful for her. We sat on the floor with her and talked while she fell asleep. The last thing she heard and felt was the sound of our voices and my hands rubbing her back. I really miss her. The house has an emptiness - even with three other cockers running around raising heck. Every time I open the door and let them in and out I find myself looking for that fourth little girl coming along behind and she's just not there. I miss her terribly, but I know she is in a much better place. I believe that Laddy was there to escort her as she passed over and the two of them are up there at the Bridge romping and rolling and having a gay old time. I went through a lot of pictures over the past few days, many of Coco with all my other dogs, but a few very special ones of her with her Laddy Boy. Stella Rowlett took those pictures and put together this wonderful tribute to Coco and Laddy that I would like to share with you all. Click on the link below to see some really great pictures set to some of the best tear jerker music ever. Here's to Coco Mae and her Laddy Boy.

Here's the link to Coco and Laddy's tribute:

I am sorry for your loss but from what you said it was time. I know even with three or four other dogs I always look for the "last" one too. They take such a large part of us with them.

Mary, You have my deepest sympathy in your loss of Coco. Coco was a very beautiful girl she had the best Cocker Mom ever. I know how much it hurts to lose one of our pups and hope Coco will meet my Bonnie girl who went to the Bridge on March 18, 2008. Mary, you will be in my prayers. :hp

Thanks Colleen. Thank you everybody for all the words of support. It's a very sad time around here - at least for me and Goldie. Lucky and Fancy don't seem to know the difference. But Goldie has been very needy all this past two weeks. I guess she was more attached to Coco than the other dogs. I just know how much I miss her. But yes, she is in a better place. It was definitely her time to go. It's left a hole in my heart, but I just like to think of her and Laddy up there romping and rolling. I'm sure he was right there to greet her.

I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am at the loss of Coco. That tribute was beautiful and showed the sweet personality of your dogs. My heart aches for you. You have my deepest sympathy. My prayers are with you ....

Thanks everyone, for all the prayers and condolences. It has been a difficult month. I don't remember any of my other losses being this hard. Coco was very special to me and I miss her every day. For such a little dog she sure had a big presence and has left a huge hole. I am having a really hard time getting beyond this. I keep looking for her and expecting her to be there. Last night I took a bubble bath and looked over the edge of the tub and thought how strange it was that she wasn't laying there. She always came in and layed on the rug next to the tub while I took a bath. None of the other dogs want anywhere near that bathtub. It's really a strange feeling to not have her there. Same thing with getting up in the night to get a drink. I always had to be really careful not to back up and step on her becuase she was always right on my heels. And I had to be really careful about putting the foot rest on the recliner down becuase she would be under it every time. Nobody else gets under there and I find myself being ever so careful and then realizing she isn't there. It will have been 4 weeks this coming Tuesday and it seems like just yesterday she was here with me. Hopefully, I will get past this pretty soon. It just seems like this loss has been a lot harder for me than any of the others. She was a special little girl.

Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. I have the same connection with my sweet Lilly, and the idea of losing her brings tears immediately, we have been through so much. We moved a few years ago after mom passed and I just got busy, so I just saw this last night. I will be in your shoes one of these days, so I can certainly relate, but I know my Sidney will have his head on my shoulder consoling me. Oh these babies! They bring us so much joy and tears that shoot straight to the soul. Bless you.
