Does anyone have any suggestions on buying sweaters for our cocker spaniel. We purchased one this evening from Petsmart and found we had to dissect it a bit to fit. We have a buff spaniel about 11 months old, almost 16 inches from neck to top of her tail, and abt 17 pounds. We found the leg holes were pulling at the front, they had slits for the legs lots of room at the back, making it so you had to fold the neck down to pull it forward. The sweater itself was just a tad big, just very odd at the leg holes.

thanks from
Maggie

and Miss Elsea

Elsea said she don't want no sweater... :gig

I'm no help. I have a problem finding a harness that fits properly.

I know just what you mean. I had a harness for Honey that was a Medium size and I really liked it. So I bought the small size for Jennie when she was first walking. Now the small is too small but the medium is too big!

I think Jennie is narrower in the chest than the makers most clothes and harnesses are expecting. I had to opt for one from Petco that is adjustable both at the neck and at the ribs. I'll only be able to use it for a while, though, as I bought the small size and have the neck hole at maximum.

I found a rain coat from RC Pets that is perfect. It velcro's at the waist and then has a t-strap that comes up between her front legs and velcros on both sides to the collar. With all that adjustability, I can make it fit perfect. They also came in lots of sizes, os I was able to get a good fit. I used it as a pattern and made a polar fleece version. Jennie accepts them both with no problem. And I like that most of her underside stays clean and dry when we walk in wet weather...which is almost all the time here in western WA!

Here's the raincoat (it's waterproof and lined with fleece). The honeycomb pattern is reflective for walking at night. They think of everything!
