As many of you know we hardly ever get to do AKC at home so off we went to California to visit Colleen, Rosey, Solo and my Auntie Kathy and my cousins the Shar-Peis.

The weather was perfect this time not the ugly rain we had in November. I had a blast and did okay but I think my mom was not too happy that I dropped bars again, especially the first and last ones of the runs. She uses the first run of the day, in this case Time 2 Beat as a warm up for me so that I can get what she calls my crazy energy out of my system. It works sometimes.

The good news is that on the very first day I got a first place Q in Open Standard! :YAY The bad news is that now I need to nail that weave pole entry in the future since we no longer are allowed that refusal because it was our third leg so I also got the Open Agility title and now we get to run in Excellent with those very good dogs. :OMY

I also got my second leg in Open Jumpers, :joy but my mom was disappointed that I did not get the third leg because I dropped that last bar. :roll You'd think I was breaking something really valuable, geesh...

Here are the videos of my runs, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

Star certainly was the successful one this past weekend :nw . Rosey earned a few more points toward the MACH (it is now referred to as Rosey's MACH Crawl rather than a MACH March :gig). She has 705 points -- 45 more points to go.

And as for me :roll, I've had better weekends. No Q's; some close ones; and one conference call to the Butthead Club that got me carried off the course :sad.

After our runs on Sunday, Star (and friends) came for a visit.

Sylvia, I just love watching your runs! Your dogs look like they are having so much fun! I have a question for you about the weave poles. Can you get your dogs to enter them if your right side is closest to the poles? Gromit is getting pretty good about not missing a pole, but only if I approach the poles so that my left side is closest. If I try standing on the other side of the poles, she acts like she's never seen a weave pole before! :dk

Keep posting those video links...we love them :th-up

Star has always loved weaving and yes, she can go in on whatever side I'm in. I do find she is better at entering correctly when I'm no where near the weaves. When I'm too close she tends to miss the entry. I need to work on that a lot immediately because that is a definite NQ going forward.

There is a DVD called Dream Weaves or something like that which may be helpful to you. Basically you want to practice by moving like a clock around the weaves so that they learn to enter no matter where you are at. :wnk

Solo, the fumes from that wine were pretty good! :gig It was wonderful seeing you all and getting to spend some time with you. Hopefully next time we get together we'll all do much better and keep our moms happy.

Darra that is too funny... Chessie is the exact opposite! She does best when I'm on the other side of the poles (my right side closest). If my left is closest she misses the entrance UNLESS we go one way starting right side closest, turn around right away (for fun) and go the other way (left side), then she is perfect in both directions! :dk

Have you started competing yet?
