Tannen and I are enrolled in Obedience 1, that will start on Jan 10, even though he knows all the commands, we decided to start at the beginning. After Obedience 1, we will move to Obedience in the spring and then by fall we shall be in Agility, in which he loves!

You'll love agility. It's very addicting! But why wait until fall to start? As long as your dog knows basic commands, sit and stay, and it's old enough, there's no reason that you can't take agility and obedience classes concurrently.

Good for you! I took my dogs to obedience classes for several years. They had several different classes, as well as "dogs just want to have fun" programs, that encompassed a lot of useful commands and behaviors that we would apply to other every day situations. It was a great way to socialize both for them and me. We learned to read each other, and the bond between us grew even deeper. It was a lot of fun, and I met some of the nicest people. We never competed in agility (I wasn't up to speed), but we did a lot of fun agility during the classes, as well as other fun and games where we had to work together.

Congratulations Amy!

Your going to love cementing the relationship you have with your dog! I think any kind of class you take is a good idea! Obedience is essential for Agility... you need those sits, stays and comes!

You think your dog has it down pat but doing it in a new area sometimes makes them forget what they've learned... so don't be surprised if Tannen does his best to make you look bad LOL. And if he's a star... enjoy it! :th-up If nothing else you'll have a nice firm foundation for when you start agility.

Have fun!
