Competing once a year is not a good thing..
Chessie and I competed at the Cleveland Crown Classic this weekend. I have to say we did better than I thought but not as well as I would have liked. Thursday we did Standard and Jumpers with Weaves. She had a great run in STD but over shot the table and jumped up from the back. But the run felt good. JWW was a disaster from the 4th jump. She got the scent of her favorite vendor's offerings and I could hardly get her to come to me much less run the coarse. After that run we walked back and forth in front of the vendor until she could walk past without lunging toward it. I did the same thing the next day before our runs and we did much better. Friday we did FAST and JWW at the ring by the vendor and we Q'd both runs!
She took a wrong turn in STD so we didn't Q but it was a good run again.
Moral of the story... a year between trials is too long to keep our edge. In our defense the venue is a tough one and the floor was a slippery mess. Not sure I'll run her there next year if they use the same surface. All the dogs were having trouble and the potential for injury is just too high. Chessie went from our last run directly to the masseuse.... lucky dog.
Sadly no video or pictures this year....
