It's that time of year - and it's Arlo's first year (he is 3 now) that he has full run of the entire house.
The living room being the last room he was allowed in at all times.

This morning Melinda went into the Living room and found Arlo on his favorite new location - and on the far right in the window Xander. The far left on the chair Diablo. They all love the room when the morning sun is peeking in..

Such a lovely sight..

Arlo had a great Hike today at Kenneth Hahn Park - and enjoyed the wonderful view.
Los Angeles with the snow top mountains in the background.

You can see a little brown around his mouth - he joyfully got into some coffee right before his hike.

Happy New Year everyone.

Love :Parti Arlo

Hi Leigh, I haven't been online for a while. We were in Alaska for 3 months and since then it seems there is always something going on :lol2 . I so hope that Arlo is doing better and not being too cranky for you. He is doing the same thing as Diva - if we leave to go to the store, etc. when we come home and sit down in our chair she is in our lap and goes to sleep :tg (like you can't leave now!) :lol3 She traveled very well on our trip and everyone loved her - had to keep an eye on her that she didn't go home with someone else as they all wanted to steal her :OMY She had her 6 month check up when we returned and her eye specialist said "my she had an excellant surgeon". She catches a treat when thrown in the air and that is our test as to how well her eyes are doing! :th-up We send our best wishes and love to Arlo and you and hope that things head more to a positive direction for you all. Diva is still on 5mg of predisone every 3rd day for the MMM, and seems to be doing very well with it. I do drops in both eyes every other night - that will be for life. She jumps up on my foot stool and sits while I do it like a little angel. Is out running with her dad now :run More like a stroll for dad :ROFL until Diva decides to pick it up then he has to really go.... :happy

Since we live in the city. Little Arlo lives an urban life.
Part of that life is our daily moments sitting on the balcony.

As we come upstairs from getting our morning coffee, Arlo can either turn left to go in side - or turn right to go on the balcony. I always let him decide. So, if he turns right, I enjoy my coffee while Arlo watches the people walk by and or just takes his nap.

Here he is after a recent morning sitting.

For any of you out there considering Tracking - we HIGHLY recommend.

Arlo and I have had a few training sessions with Solo and Rosey's mom, Colleen.
And, it is great fun. When we go out for our training - (since it is an urban park) lots of people can see us doing our work. They are already very impressed. Of course Arlo and I know we are total beginners. - And, still we have a great time.

It is so cool to see him when he really has the scent. :)

On another subject: Mommy Melinda is up in Portland (and Hood River) this weekend. She is loving it .. But, that means I am on ALL PET duty. We have Arlo and 3 cats. One cat (Winston) is a Sr. We make Arlo home made human food and we ran OUT. So, I had to go grocery shop and make all his veggies (we make bulk servings that last about 3 days).... My feet actually hurt .. So, I notice that one of the cats (Diablo) is following me and when I look at him making a unhappy sound and RUNNING AWAY. He was MAD at me (or he could tell we were going to have our two earthquakes today) ... Seems I'd not given him is daily love. OMG.. It was kinda adorable. I made him let me pick him up and give him some extra love ... All is back to normal now... everyone sleeping. :)

Over and out at Arlo's World.

Arlo has a lot of natural talent and will be a fine tracking dog. This is a great activity for people and/or dogs who aren't up to the physical demands of agility. It gives the dogs a real mental workout as they discriminate among all the things they smell to follow the designated scent. Also, AKC has expanded the tracking options for urban tracking so it is even more attractive for those of us who don't have access to acres of open spaces.

As for the earthquakes -- didn't even notice them here in So. Pas.

Colleen

An adorable Arlo moment I just had to share with people how understand how much the heart melts. :hp

So, at night I am always in the Den, doing my work on the laptop in front of the TV ..
Sitting on the sofa I look out onto the hallway.

Melinda goes to bed at 10ish. She has a ritual of taking one of the cats with her for their special time. Melinda reads her kindle in the dark and Diablo (cat) is curled up with her. At some point she turns the kindle off and goes to sleep.

Soon after - I hear walking down the hall - dog walking.. I look up and there he sits-in the den doorway.
He just silently looks at me with the most adorable look. I say "ok" and get up to walk him down the hall and tuck him into his bed. To make it even more adorable. If he starts out ON the bed with Melinda (which he sometimes does)... He still LEAVES the room and comes to get me to take him on that walk down the hall to his bed. We now leave his crate door open - so he can go to bed any time he wishes .. But, he never does without me taking him there.

How adorable is that?

On another note - Here is an article about the Dog Flu this season.

It's been a while since Arlo has said hi!

We went to Palm Springs this weekend.
Arlo loved being by the pool and helping me with the golf balls on our putting green :)

Here are a few pictures of him.
He is VERY happy right now because his baby brother is away until the OC dog show with his handler.
We remind him not to get too used to it.

What a beautiful big boy he is! So grown up looking now!! I love the pool shot with the reflection.
Do you shave his back and then blend it into his skirt? Or do you spend all the hours of your day stripping it? It lays so amazingly flat!
