Sylvia, I'm so sorry that Muffin is going through this again. Sending prayers and good thoughts that she will be better soon. It is so hard for us to see our precious pups go through difficult health issues. Hugs to Muffin and to you, too, Sylvia. :hp

I thought this thread would be important to be read again for the sake of many other Cockers and owners.

Cici, my 6 year old girl, has IVDD. We adopted her 16 months ago. It first occurred right when she had an appointment around the corner with the groomer. A bath would be too much stress for her - not that she is difficult. She is on crate rest.

However, the weather is warming up and she gets very hot with her long coat. I have tried to clip her ears and paws, but the rest of her body is getting very long.

I want to buy the Andis clippers and cut her hair myself while she is lying down. However, bathing her will not be good.

How have you dealt with this situation?

Thank you for your insight.

My poor Zoey is having problems with her back again since saturday. She is on crate rest and meds. She can walk and has good response in her legs. She is a little wobble-y but she is slowly improving. This mornng she took a slow tour of the kitchen checking for crumbs. Zoey enjoys her brief and slow potty trips outside. She still doesn't want to be pet except under her chin, she just starts to shiver as her back is in so much pain.

I am so sorry, Becky. Poor girl! Cici is still recovering, but I would say 80/90% there and it's been two months. I hope this is very minor and Zoey recovers quickly. The first time this happened, Cici recovered in a week.

This time, it's been a very slow process with crate rest and tramadol, previcox and mucsle relaxants for the shaking. It hurts to see them in pain. We are tapering off the medication now.

I am sure Zoey will be up and about again in no time.

Honestly get some diatomaceous earth and that will definitely help.
