Oh bless his heart (and yours!) I hope your beautiful little boy starts to turn the corner and feel better. I keep coming back to this post and worrying like he was my own dog. Once he heals from the surgery, I hope he feels much better without the pressure in his eye.

Oh thank you so much for caring. He acts like he is feeling better each day. We have been taking him on short walks several times a day to help release his stress of wearing the cone. His vet called yesterday to check on him and said he can have stitches out Friday.

Thank you! We are feeling hopeful. He has just finished his first month on medication and we do see some signs that he is improving. One step at a time.

So glad to hear the surgery went well! I know that first night was rough... some of that was normal from the anesthesia. I pray that he continues to heal well.

My dogs always hated the cone.... bet you and the back of your legs can't wait till it comes off too!

You are right we will be glad to see the cone gone as much as he will. He had a couple of days where he seemed like he had more energy now the past couple days he has slept a lot. Some of that we know is from the medication, but looks like he will be on that for awhile. We plan to wait 2 months more before we have him tested again. So that will make him on his medication for 3 months. Again thanks for caring.

Well the stitches are out and the closure has healed nicely. We have had an issue with a very sore bottom. I think it is the meds making him that way. The vet shaved his bottom very close, in fact, a bit closer that we liked, so that we could apply medication and keep him clean. It is finally looking better, but we had a few bad nights with him. He still sleeps so much of the time. But the Blasto and the medication both will cause that. We take one day at a time. He has been on his medication since October 14 so soon it will be 2 months. The plan is to continue with his meds until he has been on them 3 months and do another urine test to see what it shows. If it is clear then he will continue 1 more month to be sure the Blasto is gone. Thank you again for thinking of our sweet Toby.

Just wanted to add a photo of Toby doing what he does most days now. I think his bottom is feeling better now and because he is resting better and sleeping most of the night now. A minimum of 60 days on medication is the protocol. We are near that now. We will wait for 3 months and test again for the Blasto.

Lana, even I don't post very much, I just wanted you to know that I check in here frequently to check on Toby and think of him often, praying that he gets over this Blasto.

It is with a sad heart that I write to tell you we had to let Toby go this morning. Something else was going on with him and he was in pain. We made the decision that we had to let him go. He is at peace now and there will be no more pain for him. Our hearts are broken, but we know we made the right decision. Love your babies today because you never know when you are going to have to say good-bye. Thank you all for caring about our boy.

There are many broken hearts across the Zim Cocker Nation this morning. We know how hard the decision is, but we also know that it is kinder to let them go so they don't suffer anymore. Toby is in good company.

Take care of yourself and your family. Sending you comfort and prayers for healing.

Lana,

I am so sorry for your loss. :cry Please allow all the time you need to grieve. Your fond/funny memories will help you through this time of extreme loss. Toby will send you "post cards". Please watch for them...sometimes they will be very subtle. But, loving reminders none the less.

:hp Dawn

I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind comments. We are getting through this one day at a time. We talk about him and remember silly things he did and it helps. I know you all have been through this loss and it helps to have those that understand what you are going through. Again thank you each and everyone of you!

Oh my gosh...I wish I hadn't read this while at work. I wanted to look something up and was also trying to quickly catch up on a few posts. I was hoping for a happy update when I clicked on this thread. I am trying not to cry...my eyes are filled with tears.

I am so so sorry. My heart breaks for you. So sorry Toby and you went through this, but glad you were there for him. I know it's hard, but remember the good times. And know that he is now at peace. Sending hugs and prayers your way...

Lana:

I'm sorry I'm so late to see this awful news, but I wanted to send my condolences to you for your loss of Toby. We were all hoping, right along with you, that he would pull through, but it wasn't to be. God needed another angel. You gave Toby a gift and eased his pain. Such a loving gesture, but so, so hard. I hope that you all are working your way through the grief and that your hearts will heal soon.

Take care.

Tina
