Hi guys! I just got my little baby Cocker, Gizmo on tuesday 9/15. He went to the vet on 9/16 just to get checked out. Turns out he had a case of Kennel cough but was also tested for everything else just in case because he was pretty lethargic and the vet said he should have been more playful. Gizmo weighed in at about 3 pds that day.
Fast forward to now after 5 days of antibiotics Gizmo is playful, biting, sleeping through the night and loving us! He's adorable. He's eating really well and is very hydrated too.

But I'm still worried about his size...Is this too small for an 8 week old cocker puppy? Could he just be growing at a different rate than other puppies?

He was the last puppy of his litter of 5 and we did not get to meet his parents...I know that's odd and we probably should have ran but when we met him we instantly fell in love and took him home.

I don't think you have a concern. Jennie was 2.3 pounds at her first Vet appointment at 8 weeks and 1 day. Today, at almost 17 months she is between 20 and 21 pounds. Just for fun you can track Gizmo's progress at http://www.puppychart.com. They think American Cockers should weigh between 24 and 32 pounds as adults, so Jennie still shows as being underweight even though she is tall for a female.

Gizmo is beautiful. Enjoy his antics for the first year and we will look forward to lots of great photos!

Gizmo is SO ADORABLE! Please let us know what the vet says - I'm responding to your other post about his nasal discharge, too.
