The American Red Cross offers pet cpr/first aid classes that are very good. Additionally, they have a book: http://www.redcrossstore.org/Shopper/Pr ... eItemId=95 that is a great resource. The pet first aid kits they used to offer are awesome.

Thank you, I am also printing this.

Brewster was choking and I couldn't see why. I had to do the best I could figure out and believe me it was nothing like this. Everyone wondered what torture I was inflicting on my poor pup. Thank goodness he cleared his throat so all was well.

I don't ever want a scare like that!

That's a really great thing to know especially on emergency situations. First aids are the usual life savers so we must be well knowledgeable of these techniques.

Thank you!

I printed out this chart when you originally posted it. Saved Charley's life last night. He suddenly stopped breathing and was going down hard. I grabbed the chart and we got him breathing again.

Scared the daylights out of all of us!

Why did he stop breathing? That is so scary. And how did you get him breathing again? Did his heart stop too? :OMY

We don't know why he stopped breathing. No, his heart didn't stop. We administered the heimlich and also rescue breathing - one of them worked.

The vet ran all kinds of tests and nothing. No idea what, or why. I'm o.k. with that now - just so long as it doesn't happen again!

Thanks for putting that up I have not seen it before. Wonder what you do for a dog that goes into cardic arrest? Do they have a defibrillator with little paddles?
