I would buy the boric acit that you can buy at the pharmacy, Walgreens. I doubt it will be in large proportions, that might otherwise be needed for insect repellant. You may have to explain to the pharmasist what you want to use it for.

Yes, ask the pharmacist, it's behind the counter. Or buy K9 Liquid Health Ear Solutions from Amazon. Almost exactly the same formula and works great as well. But making your own is the least expensive.

Marcia, I got a nice size bottle from the pharmacy at Walmart. They did not have any in stock but had it in a couple of days after ordering. It was not expensive and it will last for a long time.

I haven't asked for a long time but Safeway pharmacy had it but had to ask for it. There were two kinds at the time and I got the powder.

Even used it as a ant poison with sugar, before beneficial nematodes became my main stay for yard care.

Definitely not the same stuff—you want medical grade boric acid for the cleaner.

I ordered mine from the link on the recipe: http://www.zimfamilycockers.com/EarCleaner.html (Amazon link)

I've always worried people would get the wrong one.

Debbie I worry about the same thing. I have copied the entire page to word and added notes to it explaining where to get the boric acid powder, which iodine to get etc. I give this to all my adopters and explain each thing. The day they adopt a dog is filled with so much excitement and activity that they do not take in everything said. Since there are notes on the recipe they have something to reference. This is just how I try to get around the problem.
