I had a habit of rubbing our cocker spaniel while watching TV in the early 2000's. I discovered a little soft hardly noticeable lump when doing that when he was five or six, and took him to the vet the next day. It was less than the size of a nickel and the vet removed it surgically. It was barely there; sometimes I could not find it. It was almost mushy, not solid at all. She said our cocker has mast cell cancer and not to look at the internet. When our cocker came home, the vet had pulled back most of the skin on that side and I was shocked that she had been so thorough. He lived to fourteen with no recurrence. I did have every lump he had checked, and I continued to rub him during my TV time to check for EVERYTHING under the surface.

This is good to know. My Chester had a mast cell approximately 2 years ago when he was 5. The vet was able to get clean margins and remove it. The concern has been that it could reoccur and like you I feel him up every day! :goof I am very glad to hear that someone did not have a reoccurrence of the cancer. I hope it turns out that way for us, I need him to live a very long time, he is my heart.
