Vet was surprise she couldn't find any fleas on him and ask what I been using. She was pushing a pill with heart worm flea and tick I think preventive in it. She really went after me for not using a heart worm medicine, She stated they have two dogs in the back with heart worms. She wouldn't tell me if they were outside dogs she wouldn't give me any information. I said Oliver is a house dog he is never outside unless going outside for the bodily fictions. When we walk around the county park that has a large lake we are all ways moving and the lake is County treated. So I told her that he gets ticks at times so she sold me a blood test for Lyme testing and two other tick problems and heart worm test. He is clear as it took 24 hours to check his blood for lyme! As I was paying the bill I said I didn't see her check his heart, oh she did that taking the blood test. I still feel cheated as I didn't see that part.

Yes, Joe, I know that "got cheated" feeling too. It's SO frustrating when the vets focus on trying to sell us (poisonous!!) stuff rather than listening to what the individual dog's lifestyle really is. Interestingly enough, the little cocker I just got, she lived her whole life outside in Utah, which is supposed to have a huge heartworm problem now, and she tested negative for heartworm and negative for all the tickborne diseases too.
