Hi all - just an update on Miss Cali, my foster dog. She is doing very well at my house and she has settled in very easily. I'm having some trouble getting used to a fourth dog, because she's very different than my dogs. She is constantly underfoot (literally!) and I step on her at least 7 times a day.

She has a potential home lined up, and she is in fact on a weekend visit there as of a couple of hours ago. The people just love her, but are waiting to see how their blind Cocker Spaniel handles having another dog in the house. I have a good feeling, but don't want to jinx anything.

On Wednesday we went for a check up with Farley's vet Dr. Clinch. For the most part Cali is in pretty good shape. She has some inflamed ears right now, and she's itchy, but those are minor irritations. The bigger news is that her teeth definitely need a cleaning, and since she's older it's possible that it could be the last time she goes under. She also has a nasty, big, weeping wart on her front leg that needs to be removed.

The rescue group has been absolutely wonderful, and they are supportive of the surgery. I have offered (they did NOT ask!) to try and fundraise the money, instead of adding to their financial burden. They have many heartworm positive dogs that need treatment. To that end, I have created a ChipIn page for anybody that can afford to donate. The rescue (http://www.gulfcoastcockerspanielrescue.com) is a 501(c)3 group, so your donations are tax deductible. All donations are going directly to them, and when we have enough raised, they will reimburse me for the surgery.

I know money is tight - if you can't donate, I totally understand. But for anybody that can spare even $5, every little bit makes a difference.

Thank you!

I made a small donation. I hope all goes well for Cali - both with her teeth cleaning and with her potential new home. She's a cutie.

WTG, Kell. I am working with Gulf Coast to raise money for them and help get one of their dogs a home, too.

Fingers crossed for Miss Cali and maybe a new home. You rock, Miss Kelly.
