Could someone please explain to me how short this blade cuts..??

Would you use this blade for a puppy cut...??
I keep getting blades confused and don't know which one to order...
The 3/4 blade or the 3 3/4FC....??? Help!!!

And what is a skip tooth blade..?? A groomer told me that is what I should use on Bailey, who has VERY thick fur...Dunno about that...

Any help would be appreciated...
Thank you

I use the 5/8 blade for a puppy trim / teddy bear cut, which cuts (I think) 5/8 inch long. I did get a 3/4 blade which would presumably cut 3/4 inch long but it never worked properly and I never got round to sending it back. Not sure what the 3 3/4 blade is I'm afraid. I use a 5 (skip tooth) or 7 as opposed to 5F or 7F on a poodle, but that's because they said to at college. I have used the 7 for a rough trim on a matted dog with a clip off, to stop the 7F blades getting too hot from extensive use. I guess it might work ok on a thick coated cocker? I shall wait for the proper experts reply with great interest, because as you can probably tell I'm no expert on this sort of thing!

The 3/4 HT is quite different then the 3 3/4FC. The former is a much longer cut and yes you could use that for a puppy cut. I never use skip tooth blades on anything. Way too easy to cut a dog with IMO. I never saw the use in them anyway. Why not just use the FC of any blade since it cuts smoother.

Anyway here is a picture of three of my dogs the one on the left had her legs cut with the 3 3/4 the dog in the middle in a 5/8 and the dog on the far right in a 3/4 HT

It actually cuts longer than 3/4 of an inch because those measurements are going against the grain and most of the time a person cuts with the grain.

I'm far from adept at grooming, but I do use a 3/4 HT blade on Bisou, and I think she looks pretty cute at that length. Now, if only I could do a better job of not leaving blade marks and getting her topknot looking right .... :OMY

I love that pic of your dogs Julie! So the 3 3/4 blade is just a fraction longer than the 4F? I must measure how long the hair is cut next time I use my 5/8, I always thought it looked longer than 5/8 inch but assumed that was why it had that name! Duh! :tg

I LOVE the 3/4 HT! Worth the money IMO. The best deal when I got mine was at Jeffer's Pet. :th-up

Yes the 3 3/4 is just a bit longer than the 4F but that little bit looks quite longer interestingly. It's sort of like the difference between a 7F and a 5F not much but it looks like a lot.
