Has anyone used this brand? Just wondering since they make a left handed version and I am so inept with my right hand. The picture looks like it may be pretty small though.

I misplaced my stripping knife (or more likely, someone ran away with it, chewed it and hid it on me) and I can't remember the brand. A handler recommended a Classic brand but I didn't ask why she prefers that brand. Perhaps it is just that it works better like the Mars coat king is preferred over knock offs.

If anyone can recommend a good left-handed knife, it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I know that Julie Hydro likes the Classic brand . . . they're inexpensive and they work well. I have the Greyhound carding knives (http://greyhoundcomb.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=33&products_id=169&zenid=39e095306f0b50fc80149cbf3afbf11e which aren't that much more, and I believe they come in a left handed version as well. I just find that they fit in my hands better than the Classic stripping knives do, and I get plenty of undercoat out with them. I know that Julie tried them and wasn't all that impressed . . . I'm sure it's a personal preference, like most things.

I use the greyhound ones also and get plenty of undercoat out. I have the coat king #20 but it doesn't seem to do much for my two. And yes greyhound does make a lefty version, I bought one for a friend.

Thanks, Kelly and Becky. I do remember reading about the Greyhound ones somewhere else awhile ago. I think I will try one. I can't wait to take out undercoat left handed :Clap

I have a set of the Greyhound (Fine, Medium & Coarse), Mars #20, Fine Classic, Coarse Classic and the Hauptner :) and of them all I prefer the Coarse Classic. It is the one I use the most. I use the Mars Coat King when the dog is getting a bath while the soap is still on and then I use the Coarse Classic most of the time.
IMO the hauptners are very aggressive and I only use it for final touches. The Greyhounds are nice also but for me the classic is still the best. Just my preference.........everyone prefers something different and there is no right or wrong choice.

I have a Hauptner. Bought it when I was showing my springer. That was 1997, still sharp. If is a great knife. Have one other, but this is the one I use most.
