Do the blades & cutters have to be the same, both metal/both ceramic?
Its time to add &/or replace what I have (clippers came with metal) Thanks, Janet

The blade is what determines the length, as #10 blade usually comes with
the clippers, is pretty short & often used with combs. The cutter is the piece
that moves side to side under or behind the blade & actually does the cutting.
I have a steel #10 blade with a steel cutter which came with my clippers & I
want a #4 or 5 blade in ceramic (runs cooler) & want to know if I need to get
a ceramic cutter too. Jan

My clipper came with a 10 and all other blades I've purchased have been ceramic. I guess that is what you wanted to know? The 10 is not ceramic. I am still confused and look forward to responses here

Only the cutters are ceramic on ceramic blades. You do not have to order them separately. The reason they sell the ceramic cutters separately is because they cannot be sharpened. You have to buy new cutters and have the metal sharpened. However my ceramics seem to stay sharper longer so that's not much of an issue.
