Well I gave Harley & Noel baths last night. They got their nails clipped and a haircut. However I am just a beginner when it comes to haircuts. :gig Harley is pretty easy right now because he came to me shaved, then had sarcoptic mange so his hair (he's a full coat) has just started to come back in and he has his teddy bear feet. :hp Noel is a field coat so she just needs trim ups but has this unbelievable long clumpy hair that comes in between her toes. I got a little too carried away with her feet. :gig Now she has poofy legs and skinny little ankles and feet. I've tried to begin topknots on both.

Just thought I'd share!! Any advice on the feet or field coat would be great!

Sorry I have no advise, but her feet really don't look that bad, and they will grow in quick :wink

Hi, I am a groomer by profession, so here are a few tips that are easy to do. Just scissor the legs slightly so the longer hair then blends into the shorter hair, so it doesn't look like bell bottom pants. thats the easiest way to hide shorter feet. I have to do it all the time with clients dogs.. Just hold the leg (front) comb the hair backwards, *up and out) start by the foot area and just take a little off at a time.. thinking that the leg is a square table with 4 sides (makes it easier for me to visualize when I do it like then) then you can just round those little corners off. You don't need to scissor very far up, only about 2 inches to blend the longer hair into the shorter hair but it will hide it a bit better then.

Thanks for posting and for the record they both look great.

I did the same thing with Daisy and got better with Wookie. It just takes practice. I am getting better at the front but the back legs/feet elude me. From the groomers on the forum, can you help both of us with back legs too? I am Scared to take too much off the back cause the legs can look too skinny really easy. But it seems I get the paddle feet or flippers really easily. How do you get that nice puffy even leg/foot?

:wv Thanks Eilene! I'm going to try that!

And Tracey I totally understand about the back feet! :ROFL If I could show you a close up of her back feet they look run over by a lawn mower...

Does anyone that has Jims grooming DVD know if it addresses field coats at all?

Dawn, Jim's DVD doesn't address field coats
